Temperature is an important control parameter during chemical reaction process. Micro reactors have attracted much attention due to its capability of excellent heat and mass transfer, fast reaction, and inherent safety of small scale. Among various types of micro reactors, micro droplet as a batch reactor has its own advantages such as high multiplexing capability. However, strong heat dissipation characteristics of microscale systems (due to large surface to volume ratio) hampers the measurement and monitor of enthalpy changes during the reaction. External gear pump is an important category of positive displacement fluid machines used to perform the mechanical–hydraulic energy conversions in many fluid power applications. An efficient numerical simulation program is needed to simulate the system in order to provide a direction for design purpose. The model consists of a lumped parameter fluid dynamic model and a model that simulates the radial micro-motions of the gear’s axes of rotation. Numerical simulation of large-scale problems in structural dynamics, such as structures subject to extreme loads, can provide useful insights into structural behavior while minimizing the need for expensive experimental testing for the same. These types of problems are highly non-linear and usually involve material damage, large deformations and sometimes even collapse of structures. Conventionally, frame structures have been modeled using beam-frame finite elements in almost all structural analysis software currently being used by researchers and the industry. Transpiration cooling with phase change is numerically investigated in the present work. As shown in Figure 1, a liquid coolant flow is injected into a porous medium from the bottom side. The porous medium receives heat from the hot gas on the top surface and heats the coolant. Thus, phase change can occur in this porous medium. The surface temperature, the heat flux received by the porous medium, the phase distribution and the flow and cooling characteristics are the most important unknowns on this topic.

Fire test data of boats in rack storage are needed to establish more specific requirements for fire control and protection for this type of vessel in high piled rack storage configurations. Fire spread through chaparral fuels is a significant feature of wildland fire in southern California. In order to study the detailed physical processes involved during fire spread, FIRETEC, a coupled atmosphere/wildfire behavior model was refined to examine chaparral fire behavior. FIRETEC combines a sophisticated fine-scale model to simulate a three- dimensional wildfire, moving over a terrain-following finite volume grid, with the motions of the local atmosphere. It accounts for the microscopic details of a fire with macroscopic resolution by dividing quantities into mean and fluctuating parts and the resulting transport equations are solved by using a finite difference method. This paper presents a simple and efficient method for removing gas bubbles from a microfluidic system. This bubble removal system uses a T-junction configuration to generate gas bubbles within a water-filled microchannel. The generated bubbles are then transported to a bubble removal region and vented through a hydrophobic nanofibrous membrane. Four different hydrophobic Polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) membranes with different pore sizes ranging from 0.45 to 3 μm are tested to study the effect of membrane structure on the system performance. This study analyzed gravel excavation cases in the Xindian District of Taiwan. Instead of the parameters typically employed in deep excavation analysis we used the deformations of diaphragm walls in a back analysis to achieve recommendations regarding the ideal range of the soil elastic modulus Es in the analysis parameters of numerical simulations for the Xindian District stratum or similar strata. Dip coating of liquid film deposition on cylindrical substrates is studied using mathematical modeling, numerical simulation and experimental investigation. A mathematical model based on the Landau-Levich approach for dip coating has been developed using the Ellis constitutive equation, for cylindrical geometries, to analyze the effects on the coating thickness of the substrate radius and hydrodynamic behavior for a non-Newtonian fluid. The influence of the viscosity at low shear rates near the surface of the withdrawal film is included in the Ellis model and coating thickness results for Ellis, power law and Newtonian models are compared with experimental data.
