"The unprecedented demand for sulphuric acid of the higher strengths (98% and higher) in the manufacture of explosives, has stimulated the zinc smelters to increased efforts in the recovery of their Roaster gases in the form of Sulphuric Acid. The Lead-chamber process is unsuitable, however, in making "strong" acid and the smelters naturally turned to the contact mass or catalytic processes. "In the concentration of an ore by means of concentrating tables, there is a critical point in sizing beyond which the valuable minerals can not be recovered. Theoretically, the lighter gangue is washed over the side of' the table and the heavier mineral, regardless of size, is recoverable at the end, these concentrates being graded from coarse to fine sizes up the slope of the table. Usually one coil of the transformer has many more turns of wire than the other, when the coil of few turns is the primary, the transformer takes a large current at a low potential and delivers a smaller current at high potential.
