An Investigation Of The Response Of A Velocity Sensing Resonant Oscillator In An Inertially Operated Distance Meter, Howard F. Devaney Jun 1957

An Investigation Of The Response Of A Velocity Sensing Resonant Oscillator In An Inertially Operated Distance Meter, Howard F. Devaney

Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs

It was the purpose of this study to investigate the response characteristics of a resonant mechanical oscillator utilized as a governor in conjunction with an inertial distance meter to sense velocity of a carrier. In order to initiate any desired event at a predetermined velocity of a vehicle (for example: fuel cut-off in a conventional liquid fuel rocket motor) it is often desirable to utilize a component requiring no external power for its operation. Such a component would be activated by inertial force and, by some means, integrate the force (or acceleration) with one respect to time and provide a …

A New Design Key Locked Insert And Automatic Key Installation Tool, Holt J. Gay May 1957

A New Design Key Locked Insert And Automatic Key Installation Tool, Holt J. Gay

Mechanical Engineering ETDs

There has been an increasing need for a better steel insert or bushing between aluminum and steel bolts in the last few years with the rapid growth of the aircraft and missile industries. The steel insert or bushing threaded internally and externally, by increasing the area of contact with the aluminum raises the strength of the bolt fastening combination approximately 300 per cent or causes a 125,000 PSI bolt to fail rather than 40,000 PSI aluminum to fail. In addition, galling and seizing are practically eliminated. A bolt installed and removed just a few times in aluminum is likely to …

The Beneficiation Of A Low-Grade Uranium Ore, Frank P. Howald May 1957

The Beneficiation Of A Low-Grade Uranium Ore, Frank P. Howald

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

The uranium in the Sponsor's Ore was proven amenable to the standard hydrometallurgical processes-- the acid leach and the carbonate leach. From an economical standpoint, the results of the heap-leaching and flotation studies were not favorable because of low recoveries. The possibility of employing an emulsion-induced selective flocculation flotation procedure still exists.

Design Of A Portable Headframe, Rodney C. Foster

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

Present day methods of ore exploration consists of surface geology, geophysical methods and drilling datum. These methods have all produced results, but, the sure way of telling whether ore is present is to look at it in place, determine it's tonnage, grade and ease of mining. This can only be done by the use of a headframe to sink a shaft. Therefore a low cost, well designed and easily constructed headframe would be a great aid to underground exploration work. For this reason the report is devoted to the design of a portable headframe to be used in preliminary ore …

The Dc Design Of Reliable Multistable Circuits, Richard H. Williams May 1957

The Dc Design Of Reliable Multistable Circuits, Richard H. Williams

Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs

The reliability of a piece of equipment is a measure of its ability to function as intended. Equipment may malfunction in two different ways. It may fail catastrophically as a vacuum tube does when its heater opens; it may fail gradually as a vacuum tube does when its transconductance slowly falls to an unacceptable level over a period of time. It is not the intent of this paper to study catastrophic component failures, but rather to illustrate a technique whereby gradual failure of circuits can be minimized.

An Investigation Into Salt-Bath Heat Treatment For Titanium, Robert Fred Bechtold May 1957

An Investigation Into Salt-Bath Heat Treatment For Titanium, Robert Fred Bechtold

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
