Advanced Strategies For Improving The Robustness Of Deep Learning, Keyu Chen
Advanced Strategies For Improving The Robustness Of Deep Learning, Keyu Chen
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) have achieved great success across diverse fields in the last decades, such as facial recognition, medical diagnosis, and language translation. The success, however, largely hinges on the assumption that the training and testing data share the same distribution or domain. In practice, real-world data often exhibits domain shifts, leading to notable degradation in model performance. Hence, the generalization capability of machine lea=rning models is of great importance, which refers to the domain generalization problem. In this dissertation, we present DADG, an effective algorithm for domain generalization, aiming to learn domain-invariant features from seen …
Investigation On The Impact Of Loading Effect Of Fruit Juices On The Performance Of Pulsed Electric Field Generators, Devi S
Theses and Dissertations
Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) treatment is one of the efficient non-thermal food processing techniques which is being preferred as a replacement for thermal pasteurization methods. The effectiveness of PEF treatment was measured in terms of reduction in the microbial load in the food, extension of shelf life of the food and retention of nutritional properties of the food. The successful implementation of the PEF treatment depends upon various aspects such as design of pulse generator, parameters of pulse generator, shape and size of the treatment chamber and most importantly the characteristics of each food items. Design and fabrication of a …
Quality Assurance Of Cast-In-Place Foundation Elements, Tristen Mee
Quality Assurance Of Cast-In-Place Foundation Elements, Tristen Mee
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Construction of cast-in-place concrete deep foundation elements is a common practice, yet performed almost entirely blind, leaving uncertainty in the quality of the as-built, below-ground element. This dissertation focuses on three quality assurance aspects of cast-in-place foundations: an automated concrete tracking system for drilled shafts, an alternate approach to identifying if mass concrete conditions exist in cast-in-place foundations, and as-built auger cast pile grout volume determination.
The volume of concrete in a drilled shaft is relatively easy to track on a truck-by-truck basis, as well as the height of the rising concrete per truck. However, a more detailed volume distribution …
Control Of Multiagent Networks With Misbehaving Nodes, Emre Yildirim
Control Of Multiagent Networks With Misbehaving Nodes, Emre Yildirim
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The overarching objective of this dissertation is to introduce system theoretical frameworks in control of misbehaving multiagent networks subject to limited resources (i.e., limited number of driver nodes), and the presence of disturbances and/or uncertainties (i.e., misbehaving nodes). Below, we briefly summarize each problem studied in this dissertation with their proposed solutions.
Specifically, we first consider multiagent networks subject to misbehaving nodes over fixed undirected graph topologies. To address this problem, we apply proportional-integral control signals to a subset of nodes (i.e., driver nodes) in the network to address the undesired effects arising from misbehaving nodes. Since multiagent networks with …

Deterministic Transport Of Coupled Energetic Light-Ions And Neutrons With Application To Inertial Confinement Fusion, Kyle Beling
Deterministic Transport Of Coupled Energetic Light-Ions And Neutrons With Application To Inertial Confinement Fusion, Kyle Beling
Nuclear Engineering ETDs
Numerical simulations of an inertial confinement fusion (ICF) target during the implosion process require high fidelity models of the radiation transport process. This work is interested in the transport of high-energy light-ions and neutrons in a background ICF plasma. As these energetic particles slow down, they experience knock-on (recoil) and thermonuclear (TN) collisions with the light-ions in the background plasma. These recoil and TN collisions excite the background light-ions causing them to transport through the plasma further exciting background light-ions. Mathematically, this cascading effect is described as a system of linear Boltzmann transport equations coupled through recoil and TN collision …

Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
Process variations within Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) provide a rich source of entropy, making them well-suited for the implementation of Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs). This dissertation presents three studies on FPGA-based PUFs. First, we explore a ring-oscillator (RO) PUF that leverages localized entropy from individual look-up table (LUT) primitives, analyzing design bias. Next, we investigate delay variations that occur through the routing network and switch matrices of FPGAs using a feature of Xilinx called dynamic partial reconfiguration (DPR). Finally, we evaluate entropy across FPGAs from Xilinx, Altera, and Microsemi using the Shift-Register Reconvergent-Fanout (SiRF) PUF architecture to compare path …

Nature Inspired Optimization For Spectrum Sensing And Allocation In Cognitive Radio Networks, Saravanan R
Theses and Dissertations
Cognitive radio (CR) refers to intelligent radio technology that scans its environment to optimize spectrum use and adjusts its parameters accordingly. It employs a communication system that is aware of its surroundings, including spectrum usage and availability. A key aspect of CR is identifying idle channels by analyzing traffic patterns using effective learning strategies.
However, CRNs face challenges such as cross-layer design issues, spectrum sensing errors, hidden node problems, and complex spectrum management. Spectrum sensing is critical for accessing unused radio spectrum while minimizing interference. Efficient sensing techniques must be cost-effective, fast, and capable of detecting weak primary signals. Although …
