"In the spring of 1919 the Eastman Kodak laboratories suggested to the chemistry department of the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy that experiments on small-scale production of furfural be undertaken. After a series of experiments a small amount of this product was made and a report was given before the American chemical Society at St. Louis in April 1920.
