In the manufacturing of quantum devices using 2-dimentional (2D) materials, current processes rely on manual operations of production. MonArk Quantum Foundry is developing a facility to semi-automatically, and ultimately automatically, produce 2D materials. One crucial step in the experimentation process is archiving these materials and completed chips for future access. The sample archival system robot was produced to fulfill this need. This thesis presents the development and experimental validation of a compact, solid-state gas generator (SSGG) heater integrated into a printed circuit board (PCB) for use in satellite deorbiting systems. Designed for CubeSat-class spacecraft, the system produces gas via the thermal decomposition of sodium azide (NaN₃). The project emphasizes minimal mass, low power consumption, and mechanical simplicity – key constraints for modern space missions. The heater system relies on Joule heating through patterned copper coils embedded within the PCB structure. Belitic Calcium Sulfoaluminate (BCSA) cement is an alternative binder known for its rapid setting and high early strength, making it ideal for applications such as fast-track construction and repair. This study presents a comprehensive investigation into the behavior of BCSA cement under a wide range of curing temperatures, with emphasis on early-age strength development, admixture effects, and the use of the maturity method for strength prediction.

Some current building codes for structural concrete allow the use of alternative cement concrete if their structural, durability, and fire performance can be shown to be comparable to portland cement (PC) concrete. One such alternative cement, belitic calcium sulfoaluminate (BCSA) cement, is a promising standalone replacement for portland cement given its lower global warming potential (GWP), fast setting time, and high early age compressive strength. This research develops an efficient approach to estimating survival signatures for two-terminal networks with more than two classes of components. Recently, the survival signature has gained substantial attention in the literature on network reliability estimation due to its unique separability property, which enables passing the network topology information independent of the failure distribution of the components. Accurate prediction of breast cancer recurrence plays a critical role in guiding treatment decisions, particularly regarding the use of systemic therapy for patients. While genomic assays such as the Oncotype DX Recurrence Score offer valuable prognostic information, they are limited in accessibility and application. The work presented in this thesis explores an imaging-based approach for the prediction of breast cancer recurrence that combines multiphoton microscopy (MPM) with deep learning to classify individual breast cancer biopsy samples by risk of recurrence. System-on-Chip (SoC) complexity continues to present challenges in global clock distribution and power management. The Globally Asynchronous Locally Synchronous (GALS) approach addresses these issues by enabling asynchronous communication between locally synchronous chiplets. This thesis details the design and implementation of two GALS architectures employing asynchronous handshaking protocols through Multi-Threshold CMOS NULL Convention Logic (MTNCL). This research examines the problem of estimating the survival signature of all-terminal networks using Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. Following a recent similar result for twoterminal networks, we show that the work required within each MC replication corresponds to solving a multi-objective bottleneck spanning tree (MOBST) problem. We implement the resulting MC procedure using a “Blocks” algorithm from the literature to solve the MOBST in each replication by identifying its minimal set of non-dominated points. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) currently requires a minimum cement content of 564 pounds of cement per cubic yard of concrete. This minimum cement requirement can be reduced through the utilization of optimized gradation of aggregates within concrete mixtures as well as the addition of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) such as fly ash. Glyphosate and Roundup products have become the most used herbicide worldwide. However, previous bans in Europe and recent reversal have caused confusion over their safety. This study aims to investigate the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of Roundup QuickPro and its main ingredient glyphosate using Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. Cytotoxicity was calculated by measuring CHO cell viability with 72 hours of exposure to each toxicant. Roundup exhibited higher cytotoxicity with LC50 of 511.2 μg/mL than glyphosate’s LC50 of 3389 μg/mL. The shift toward electrification in transportation, including electric and hybrid vehicles, presents challenges for power electronic converters. Silicon Carbide (SiC) power devices are promising due to their high efficiency, temperature tolerance, and reduced losses compared to traditional silicon devices. However, their use is hindered by issues such as parasitic capacitances and gate inductances, which can lead to voltage spikes and stress on the device gate oxide, hence impacting converter reliability. Increasing gate resistance can help manage these issues, but it reduces switching speed and increases losses.
