Standardised Control Techniques For Induction Generators In Both Grid-Connected And Isolated Applications, John Brazil, Aidan O'Dwyer, M. Murphy
Standardised Control Techniques For Induction Generators In Both Grid-Connected And Isolated Applications, John Brazil, Aidan O'Dwyer, M. Murphy
Conference papers
Induction generators are particularly suitable for small hydro applications and are widely used at present. However, with conventional grid-connected techniques, it is not always possible to use them in regions with weak grids because of excessive connection transients. Consequently, their many advantages cannot be fully exploited in these regions. Standardised control systems have been developed by ECS for isolated applications of induction generators and these will now be further developed to permit reduced-transient grid connections.
Exergy Analysis - A Different Perspective On Energy Part 2: Rational Efficiency And Some Examples Of Energy, Jim Mcgovern
Exergy Analysis - A Different Perspective On Energy Part 2: Rational Efficiency And Some Examples Of Energy, Jim Mcgovern
Articles
The concept of exergy having been introduced in the first part of this paper, a universal rational efficiency is now defined and a number of examples of exergy analyses is given.

The purpose of the work was to critically re-examine and investigate the evaluation of refrigerant compressors and to determine and discriminate between the factors which influence their characteristics. The objectives also included the investigation of techniques by which the characteristics can be established and the suggestion of ways in which compressor performance can be described and quantified. The particular compressor which was tested was of the reciprocating open type. Existing theories relating to the efficiency of displacement utilisation are extended to yield an overall framework in which the various influences can be described and quantified. Conventional parameters for the quantification …
