Effect Of Hatch Spacing In Selective Laser Melting Process Of Ti-6al-4v Alloy On Finished Surface Roughness: A Computational Study, Reettiporn Thongpron, Patiparn Ninpetch, Prasert Chalermkarnnon, Pruet Kowitwarangkul
Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals
The Selective Laser Melting (SLM) process is a promising additive manufacturing technology for producing complex metal parts. However, this process has certain limitations, including lack of fusion and defects, which can hinder its industrial applications. These challenges can be addressed by determining the appropriate overlap percentage parameters. This study used numerical simulation to explore the effect of overlap percentage on multi-track melting in the SLM process for Ti-6Al-4V. The simulation results categorize the multi-track melting morphologies into two distinct groups. The first group, (0% to 40% overlap), displays consistent surface roughness with an average Ra value of 7 µm. In …

Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals
Vibration absorption of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy fabricated by laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing (LPBF-AM) was evaluated following as-built and post-heat treatment (i.e., solution treatment followed by water quenching). The base plate was heated at 50°C or 200°C during building. Results showed that the vibration absorption of the as-built Ti-6Al-4V alloy was higher when the base plate was heated at 50°C than at 200°C. Further, the vibration absorption indicated strong anisotropy, with the highest vibration absorption in the direction perpendicular to the building direction and transverse to the laser scanning direction. However, after solution treatment followed by water quenching, the …

Phase Separation Promotes Fcc-Phase Mechanical Twinning In Alcocrfemo0.05ni2 High Entropy Alloy, Zifeng Zhang, Liang Chu, Jiqing Zhao, Bing Xu, Qilu Ye
Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals
The AlCoCrFeMo0.05Ni2 high entropy alloy (HEA) can remarkably enhance its ductility through high-temperature annealing. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanism remains under explored. Herein, we utilized molecular dynamics simulations (MD) to calculate the generalized stacking fault energy (GSFE) curves and uniaxial tensile behavior. Notably, the twin inclination of the FCC phase increases significantly after annealing. During plastic deformation, the FCC phase in the annealed alloy exhibits a substantially higher formation of twinning and stacking faults compared to the as-cast alloy. This increased twin inclination after annealing is the fundamental mechanism contributing to the enhancement of high-temperature ductility.

Theses and Dissertations
This thesis aims to discuss the potential of using piezoelectric and triboelectric nanogenerators (PTENGs) for energy harvesting, particularly in the sportswear industry. PTENG's main advantage is that it offers good flexibility making it suitable for high-strain applications. The piezoelectric effect is induced by embedding piezoelectric nanofillers into one of the two triboelectric layers. PTENGs can generate both piezoelectric and triboelectric signals when strained resulting in an enhanced output compared to regular piezoelectric nanogenerators (PENGs) and triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs).
