The purpose of this research is to investigate the corrosion rate of carbon steel as flowline and pipeline in natural gas production with CO2 content. The influence of variety of conditions that represent the actual conditions in practice such as CO2 partial pressure and solution composition, particularly NaCl percentage were performed. Research conducted by polarization test and simulation methods using PREDICTTM software. The existences of variances that are very difficult to be removed from manufacturing processes provide significance of tolerance to the product quality characteristics target of customer functional requirement. Furthermore, quality loss incurred due to deviation of quality characteristics of the target with a specified tolerance. Response surface methodology (RSM) is a three factorial model which illustrates the relationship between one or more independent variables. RSM can be used to optimize the fermentation medium for the production of Cyclosporin A from the isolate Tolypocladium inflatum. The optimal point of the response surface area is predicted by using a seconddegree polynomial model and applying the statistic model obtained from the central composite design (CCD). We propose a computational method for a homogenized peridynamics description of fiber-reinforced composites and we use it to simulate dynamic brittle fracture and damage in these materials. With this model we analyze the dynamic effects induced by different types of dynamic loading on the fracture and damage behavior of unidirectional fiber-reinforced composites. In contrast to the results expected from quasi-static loading, the simulations show that dynamic conditions can lead to co-existence of and transitions between fracture modes; matrix shattering can happen before a splitting crack propagates. In satellite communication system, antenna plays an important role. Therefore, the antenna must meet some requirements, such as high gain, circular polarization, and good directivity. In this paper, a four element linear array triangular patch microstrip antenna with cross slot is designed to be used for Quasi-Zenith satellite system. A simulation study as well as experimental study was carried out. The simulation showed that the 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 87 MHz (2.569-2.656 GHz) is achieved while the measured results showed 96 MHz (2.556-2.652 GHz). This research aims to study the quantity, quality, ecological and economic feasibility of nata de pina production (NP) from pineapple liquid waste (PLW). The design of the study employs complete random design (CRD) with three treatments: PLW without nutrients addition (A), PLW nutrients addition (B), and PLW stored for six months with nutrients addition (C). A dynamic mathematical model for a new structure of precision air conditioning (PAC) has been developed. The proposed PAC uses an additional secondary condenser for relative humidity regulation compared to a basic refrigeration system. The work mechanism for this system and a vapour-compression cycle process of the system are illustrated using psychrometric chart and pressure-enthalpy diagram. An ever increasing demand for higher performing magnets drives the need for new and innovative methods to achieve this goal. Sm-Co rare earth permanent magnets have a unique eutectic microstructure that, through refinement, could become a two-phase magnet which would significantly increase their energy product. The eutectic structure of Sm8Co92 is comprised of αCo rods embedded within a Sm2Co17 matrix. If the rods are small enough to encourage exchange coupling and the matrix is smaller than the single domain limit, then an efficient two-phase magnet is created.

The M1114 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) has been the workhorse vehicle of the U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense, was faced with massive public criticism in 2004 for not equipping our military personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq with M1114s that had the proper ballistic armor. This research investigated the interlaminar shear performance of a SiC/SiC ceramic matrix composite. The interlaminar shear performance was observed in compression of double notched specimens (DNS) at 1200°C in both laboratory air and in steam. Compression to failure tests determined the as-processed interlaminar shear strength and interlaminar shear creep tests were conducted with stresses ranging from -22 MPa to -16 MPa. Primary and secondary creep regimes were observed in all creep tests. The specimens tested in creep at -16 MPa in air achieved run-out, defined as 100 hours at creep stress. Background: In this work the chemical structure of dextran-iron oxide thin films was reported. The films were obtained by MAPLE technique from composite targets containing 10 wt. % dextran with 1 and 5 wt.% iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs). The IONPs were synthesized by co-precipitation method. A KrF* excimer laser source (λ = 248 nm, τFWHM≅25 ns, ν = 10 Hz) was used for the growth of the hybrid, iron oxide NPs-dextran thin films.

In this work, the LiFePO4/C composites were prepared by the spray drying and carbothermal method, and were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and galvanostatic charge-discharge measurements. The effects of the organic assisted templates on the morphologies and electrochemical properties of the LiFePO4/C composites were investigated. The results showed that the morphology and microstructure of the composites could be tuned by incorporating with the different templates. A series of xLiFePO4·yLi3V2(PO4)3 composites were systematically synthesized through solid state reactions by variations in the proportions of LiFePO4 and Li3V2(PO4)3. The properties of the prepared compounds were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical measurements. The capacity of 162.7 mAh/g at 0.2 C rate was obtained with the relatively good cycle stability and good conductivity for 0.95LiFePO4·0.05Li3V2(PO4)3 due to more uniformed distributed and smaller particle sizes.

Manganese titanate (MnTiO3) powder was prepared via a sol-gel method using manganese acetate and tetrabutyl titanate as raw materials, and citric acid as a chelating agent. Through high temperature nitridation of MnTiO3 powder in ammonia, the MnO/TiN composite was obtained. The phase structure, composition and morphology of the composites were characterized by XRD, SEM and EDS. The electrochemical properties of the composite electrodes were studied by performing cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge and discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests. The Ni/Ag2O/RuO2-Pt composite cathode was prepared by sol-gel method using RuCl3 and H2PtCl6 as raw materials. The effects of heat treatment conditions and AgNO3 concentrations on hydrogen evolution properties were investigated. The morphology and composition of Ni/Ag2O/RuO2-Pt composite cathode have been characterized by XRD, XPS and SEM-EDS. It is demonstrated that the surface structure of Ni/Ag2O/RuO2-Pt composite cathode is more compact, with fewer cracks and larger surface roughness than pure nickel.
