Underground hard coal mining causes surface deformations. When the mining operations are conducted beneath linear objects, such as motorways, there is a risk of deformations of the axis of the road and its horizontal and vertical alignment (additional bends and vertical curvatures, longitudinal inclinations, deformations of crosssections). In the areas subjected to mining operations, mining plants conduct geodetic monitoring. Due to their labour intensity and costs, geodetic measurements are usually made only a few times a year. This study analyzed mechanisms of flooding in Blackwater River Watershed, located in coastal Virginia and hydraulically connected with mid-Atlantic Ocean. The analysis was based on the examination and simulation of the rainfall-runoff relationship, and such an analysis is very important for conventional water resource management and dealing with hydrologic extremes (e.g., floods and droughts, as well as ecological and pollution discharges). The rainfall-runoff relationship is a quantitative description of the hydrologic cycle, a dynamic process that can be interactively influenced by various factors, namely climate, topography, soils, land use and land cover, and land management practice.

Stormwater management is a primary ecological benefit ecoroofs provide to ecosystems. Quantification of runoff from large scale ecoroofs is difficult to replicate, so researchers often utilize smaller experimental ecoroof platforms. This approach is becoming increasingly common, so it is useful to compare and contrast approaches for runoff measurement at the platform scale. Wadi Qena is one of the Nile Valley areas particularly at risk of severe flash flooding, located in Egypt. The study aims to verify TRMM rainfall data (TRMM 3B42), using eight stations across Egypt as well as relies on morphometric analysis to generate a flood risk map based on the ranking method. Three process could be recognized through the study, calibration, correction and verification processes. Numerous reports have elucidated the use of biochar (BC) to adsorb dyes from wastewater. However, its applicability for adsorbing Procion Red, which causes carcinogenic and mutagenic effects on aquatic life, has not been studied. In this work, biochar produced from rice husk in Sumatera, Indonesia was used as a biosorbent for Procion Red removal from aqueous systems. Rice husk-BC was characterised using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, surface area specific analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for mor-phological analysis. Krabi Estuary Wetland (KEW) is an outstanding wetland with an estuary environment. At present, the tourism industry has rapidly grown, resulting in the impact of land cover changes. This research aims to assess the changes that have occurred in the KEW from 1999 to 2020 using NDVI and NDBI for monitoring changes in mangrove areas and urbanization in Krabi Province, Thailand. Landsat satellite images in years 1999, 2009 and 2020 were classified by using a band ratio to create land cover maps. The study was conducted to evaluate the quality and spatial distribution of surface water quality in Soc Trang, a coastal province using Geographic information system (GIS) and multivariate statistical analysis. Water monitoring data was collected from 19 sampling locations with 19 parameters were analyzed from February 2019 to August 2020. The results indicated that water quality was contaminated with organic matters, nutrients, coliforms and salinity. Water quality index (WQI=22–73) indicated that water quality was from poor to medium level. Elephant dung biochar (ED350) prepared by controlled heating at 350 ºC was used to adsorb methylene blue (MB) in an aqueous solution. The effects of adsorption time, pH, adsorbent dosage, and initial MB concentration were examined. Kinetic, isotherm, and thermo-dynamic models were then further analyzed to determine the adsorption. The results show that ED350 was found to be efficient within 180 min. The optimum pH of MB adsorption was 11. The Langmuir isotherm model was found to be the most suitable fit for the adsorption equilibrium data, with ED350 having a homogeneous surface. The calculated equilibrium parameter (RL) …

Agricultural waste management through energy recovery is one of the critical options that could drive the clean energy production industry and properly replace the use of coal in Nigeria if done sustainably. The objective of this work therefore is to study the synergetic effect of waste feedstock mixture and torrefaction pre-treatment on some physical and performance characteristics of briquettes from cornhusk (CH) and sawdust (SD) wastes. Hedong Coalfield is located in the Loess Plateau of western Shanxi province at the western foot of the Lvliang Mountains in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. It is an important coking coal producing area, with severe soil erosion, fragile ecological environment, frequent occurrence of geological disasters and karst spring distribution in China. Through the analysis of resource and geological environment characteristics of Hedong Coalfield, it is found that the scarce coking coal reserves in Liliu mining area in the middle of the coalfield account for 70.8% of the total reserves. In order to study the enrichment and distribution of pollutants from the underground gasification of bituminous coal in Huating Mining Area, and to evaluate the environmental factors of the underground gasification of bituminous coal, with an underground gasification simulation experimental platform system, this paper studies the enrichment of heavy metal pollutants in tar and gasification residues during gasification process by means of different oxygen-rich-water gasification experiments and pyrolysis experiments of coal samples in different sizes. The organic geochemical characteristics of tar-rich coal are of great significance to study the paleosedimentary environment and evolution of coal seams. Taking coal samples from 6 main coal seams of Yan’an Formation in Northern Shaanxi Province as the research object, this paper analyses the organic geochemical characteristics of coal seams by coal quality analysis and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that coal samples had a high abundance of chloroform asphalt "A" and a low saturated hydrocarbon/aromatic hydrocarbon ratios, characterized by the unimodal pattern of n-alkanes and dominated by medium chainsaturated hydrocarbons. In order to optimize the spacing of boreholes and realize efficient drainage, based on the fluid solid coupling model, a three-dimensional geometric model was established to make it closer to the field reality, the gas drainage processes of a coal mine with different borehole spacing were simulated using COMSOL software. The results show that: the effective drainage area was visualized by the three-dimensional diagram of the isobaric surface with gas pressure of 0.74 MPa, and the influence of borehole spacing on the extraction efficiency was discussed. With the development of coalbed methane(CBM) exploration, higher accuracy of CBM content prediction is required. Based on the response characteristics of CBM logging, the correlation between logging parameters and gas content is analyzed, and the optimization strategy of logging parameters by combining MIV technology with LSSVM is proposed. The optimal logging parameters are selected as the input independent variables of network modeling, and the core parameters of LSSVM(Least Squares Support Vector Machine) network are optimized by particle swarm optimization.
