Analysis On Influencing Factors Of Single/Multi-Layer Development Of Coalbed Methane Field: A Case Study Of Baode Block, Zhang Lei, Xu Fengyin, Li Ziling, Zhang Wei, Hou Wei, Zhang Qingfeng, Zhang Wen, Fan Hongbo, Li Yongchen
Coal Geology & Exploration
Baode Block in the eastern margin of Ordos Basin is the first coalbed methane field of middle-low rank coal with 500 million cubic meters of production capacity constructed and reached in China, and it is also a benchmark in the coalbed methane industry there. During the development of Baode Block, good results are obtained by the commingled development of two sets of main coal layers, which are better than that of single-layer development. However, poor development result is obtained locally in the commingled development of some wells under the same development conditions, which is poorer than that of single-layer development. …

Exploration Of Integrated Technology For Deep Coalbed Methane Drainage In Full Life Cycle: A Case Study Of Daning‒Jixian Block, Zeng Wenting, Ge Tengze, Wang Qian, Pang Bin, Liu Yinhua, Zhang Kang, Yu Lizhu
Coal Geology & Exploration
The first deep coalbed methane (CBM) field with a depth of more than 2 000 meters in China has been proven in Daning‒Jixian Block on the eastern margin of Ordos Basin, where the deep coal bed has the characteristics of large buried depth, high pressure, high gas content, high gas saturation and low permeability. Besides, the features of early gas occurrence, high gas-liquid ratio and high salinity of produced liquid are shown in the production process. Problems such as corrosion, anti-eccentric wearing, gas locking and pump blocking were encountered in the application of suction pump based lifting system in the …

Co2 Adsorption Of Anthracite With Different Moisture Contents And Its Implications For Geological Storage, Zhang Jinchao, Sang Shuxun, Han Sijie, Zhang Fengbi, Xu Ang, Liu Qishan
Coal Geology & Exploration
CO2 geological storage in deep coal seams is regarded as an important pathway to achieve “2030 carbon peak and 2060 carbon neutrality goals”. The moisture content in coal seams plays a significant role in the CO2 storage capacity mainly based on CO2 adsorption. In this study, the anthracite from the Qinshui Basin was collected to conduct high-pressure CO2 adsorption isothermal experiments under dry, moisture-equilibrated and moisture-saturated conditions at 45℃. The CO2 excess adsorption curve was corrected by the reduction of CO2 dissolution. The adsorption capacity and adsorption heat were calculated using the modified D-R …

Formation Pressure Calculation Of Tight Sandstone Gas Reservoir Based On Material Balance Inversion Method, Wu Nan, Shi Shi, Zheng Shiqi, Zhao Haoyang, Wang Hongya, Tong Jiangnan
Coal Geology & Exploration
Pressure is the soul of a gas reservoir. Formation pressure is the basis of evaluating gas well productivity and analyzing gas reservoir potential. However, due to data integrity and method applicability limitations, formation pressure in most gas wells cannot be accurately obtained. On the basis of a small amount of pressure monitoring data, the material balance inversion method is proposed by using mathematical inversion thought to evaluate the formation pressure of tight sandstone gas reservoirs. Firstly, the dynamic reserves of gas wells are calculated by fitting the Blasingame chart with the production data of gas wells under pseudo-steady flow. Secondly, …

Coal Geology & Exploration
With the in-depth exploration and development of coalbed methane (CBM), the development differences between different strata in the same region are gradually emerging. Deepening the understanding of reservoir is crucial to formulate development strategies. Taking the Zhengzhuang Block in the southern Qinshui Basin as an example, in the past, the focus was on the main No.3 coal resources. With the stimulation demand in this block, the CBM needs to be gradually recovered in multiple layers. In this paper, the CBM resource of No.15 coal is analyzed. Comparative analysis with well developed No.3 CBM resources is carried to probe into the …

Practice And Understanding Of Coalbed Methane Co-Production In Zhijin Area, Guizhou, Li Jiaxin, Chen Zhenlong, Guo Tao
Coal Geology & Exploration
Guizhou Province is a typical area where thin-to-medium thick coalbeds are developed, where the resource endowment characteristics, including multiple coalbeds, small thickness, low permeability, high in-situ stress and multi-layer superposition of pressure system, lead to the difficulties in localization of the mainstream technologies at home and abroad for the development of coalbed methane (CBM) and the utilization of CBM resources. The particularity of these geological characteristics of the multiple and thin CBM determines the obvious selectivity of technologies for its development, and thus the co-production of multiple coalbeds becomes the essential method for effective development and utilization of CBM resources …

Excessive antibiotic use in veterinary applications has resulted in water contamination and potentially poses a serious threat to aquatic environments and human health. The objective of the current study was to quantify carbonized leonardite (cLND) adsorption capabilities to remove sulfamethoxazole (SMX)- and enrofloxacin (ENR)-contaminated water and to determine the microbial activity of ENR residuals on cLND following adsorption. The cLND samples prepared at 450oC and 850oC (cLND450 and cLND550, respectively) were evaluated for structural and physical characteristics and adsorption capabilities based on adsorption kinetics and isotherm studies. The low pyrolysis temperature of cLND resulted in a …

Warming Of The Willamette River, 1850–Present: The Effects Of Climate Change And Direct Human Interventions, Stefan Talke, David Jay, Heida Diefenderfer
Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations
Using archival research methods, we found and combined data from multiple sources to produce a unique, 140 year record of daily water temperature (Tw) in the lower Willamette River, Oregon (1881–1890, 1941–present). Additional daily weather and river flow records from the 1850s onwards are used to develop and validate a statistical regression model of Tw for 1850–2020. The model simulates the time-lagged response of Tw to air temperature and river flow, and is calibrated for three distinct time periods: the late 19th, mid 20th, and early 21st centuries. Results show that Tw has trended upwards at ~1.1 °C …

Intensifying permafrost thaw alters carbon cycling by mobilizing large amounts of terrestrial substrate into aquatic ecosystems. Yet, few studies have measured aquatic carbon fluxes and constrained drivers of ecosystem carbon balance across heterogeneous Arctic landscapes. Here, we characterized hydrochemical and landscape controls on fluvial carbon cycling, quantified fluvial carbon fluxes, and estimated fluvial contributions to ecosystem carbon balance across 33 watersheds in four ecoregions in the continuous permafrost zone of the western Canadian Arctic: unglaciated uplands, ice-rich moraine, and organic-rich lowlands and till plains. Major ions, stable isotopes, and carbon speciation and fluxes revealed patterns in carbon cycling across ecoregions …

Developing Positive Thermal Coefficient (Ptc) Heaters For Solar Electric Cooking, Katarina Ivana Brekalo, Andrew Shepherd
Physics
Positive Thermal Coefficients, PTCs, are materials that abruptly change in resistance in response to changes in temperature. The purpose of this experiment is to explore the viability of using the switching type ceramic PTC thermistor as a replacement for current resistive heaters. These types of PTCs have a nonlinear change in resistance with increases in temperature. This device will be used as a temperature-controlling heating element intended to power an Insulated Solar Electric Cooker (ISEC). The ISEC is designed to cook meals throughout the day for impacted communities as an alternative cooking method that doesn’t require biofuel as an energy …

Although the six-ligament chiral structure has many unique properties, due to its special structure, the stress concentration is prone to defects. In addition, additive manufacturing is also prone to defects. This paper studies the effect of defects, which is helpful for the better application of the six-ligament chiral structure. Several new six-ligament chiral structures with random and concentrated defects were designed to explore the effects of the defects on the in-plane dynamic properties. The structures were studied with the finite element ANSYS/LSDYNA numerical simulation and experimental methods. According to the defect-free six-ligament chiral structures exhibiting different deformation modes at different …

Research On Hydraulic Fracturing Technology And Equipment Of Directional Long Drilling With Sand In Coal Seam Roof, Zhang Jian, Liu Le, Zhao Jizhan, Sun Siqing, Wang Chenyang
Coal Geology & Exploration
Due to low permeability, fast gas-rate decline, uneven fracturing, easy fracture closure, it is difficult to perform advance gas extraction in broken-soft coal seams. Aimed at these issues, this study has been proposed a new idea to enhance the coalbed permeability and eventually the gas extraction, which is based on roof-supporting, long-reach directional drilling, and hydraulic fracturing. Corresponding equipment including fracturing pump unit, directional sandblasting perforation assembly, sand control packer and tools have been developed. Specifically, the pumping unit is capable of a pumping rate up to 90 m3/h, a pumping pressure up to 70 MPa, and a …

Study Of Technologies And Equipment Of Continuous Hydraulic Sand Fracturing For Permeability Enhancement At High Pressure Side Of Coal Mine Downhole, Jia Bingyi, Li Shugang, Chen Dongdong, Lin Haifei, Zheng Kaige, Sun Siqing, Zhao Jizhan
Coal Geology & Exploration
The technological concept of sand fracturing at the high pressure side is proposed against the present situation where the coal mine downhole operation space is small, the power and water supply capacities are limited, and the surface sand fracturing equipment cannot be applied directly in the coal mine downhole. On the basis of the principle of sand mixing and carrying through hydrodynamic impact, the continuous hydraulic sand fracturing equipment at the high pressure side was developed. Such equipment requires no external power source for sand mixing. It forms cyclone impact through the changes in the flow regime and flow field …

Floor Failure Law Of Extra-Thick Coal Seam In Fully Mechanized Caving Mining, Guo Guoqiang
Floor Failure Law Of Extra-Thick Coal Seam In Fully Mechanized Caving Mining, Guo Guoqiang
Coal Geology & Exploration
The coal mining on the high-artesian water body will cause floor disturbance and damage, and lead to the thinner effective waterproof stratum, which enhances the risk coefficient of water bursting at the floor. Grouting modification of the target horizon is an effective governing measure. However, the grouting within the floor damage scope will waste a large amount of grout and affect the project effect. Therefore, it is especially important to carry out the study of the damage depth and regularity of the coal seam floor. Accordingly, the 5105 working bench of the Yushupo Coal Mine in Shanxi was adopted as …

Abstract: The deformation and destruction characteristics of frozen rock is a basic mechanical problem encountered during the construction using the freezing method. Under the action of load, the mechanical characteristics and deformation characteristics are greatly different for the rock with different freezing temperatures, which significantly affects the safety and stability of the freezing wall. Therefore, the study of the damage constitutive relation of the frozen rock is significant for instructing the freezing method design and construction. In order to analyze the whole process of the frozen rock deformation and destruction under load action, the Weibull distribution was adopted to describe …

Experimental Study On Power Matching Of Modular Double Pumping Stations Of Tunnel Drilling Rig, Lu Feifei, Fan Dong, Tian Hongliang
Coal Geology & Exploration
In order to solve the problems of heavy weight, relocation and transportation of the power pumping station of tunnel drilling rigs, it is proposed to divide the pumping station through modular design, and adopt the solution of small-displacement, dual-power and dual-pump confluence, effectively reducing the transportation size and weight of a single pump station. A single-pump station or a double-pump confluence is chosen according to the working conditions to improve the flexibility of the drilling rig and reduce energy consumption. The load-sensing system has the advantages of energy saving, good load adaptability, and convenient speed regulation. However, when the dual-load-sensing …

Simulation experiments on hydraulic fracturing of the coal seam in the laboratory are an effective method to study the mechanism of fracturing and enhancing permeability of coal-rock mass by hydraulic fracturing in coal mines. However, the technology in-situ sampling for large-size coal mass is immature, and the existing large-size coal samples are mostly taken from the stress-relaxation area, which can be further damaged in the transportation and preparation processes, causing large dispersion in test results. Therefore, The use of coal-like materials is a viable option to replace large-size raw coal for hydraulic fracturing simulation experiments. The mechanical properties of coal-like …
