The TiO2 anodized films generated at low current density after annealing are good candidates for surface coating, as a hydrophilicity is a crucial characteristic that determines dental implant applications. In this study, the hydrophilicity of TiO2 anodized films annealed at various temperatures was examined. It was found that increasing the annealing temperature during the anodization procedure improves the hydrophilicity of the TiO2 anodized films. This is related to the evolution of the TiO2 anodized film structure produced by raising the annealing temperature, which converts the TiO2 anodized amorphous phase to rutile phases. Moreover, increased annealing temperature results in more oxygen …

In this study, in-situ oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) Fe91Ni8Zr1 and Fe88Ni8Zr4 alloys were produced by combination of high energy mechanical alloying (HEMA) and high temperature equal channel angular extrusion (HT-ECAE). The wear behaviors of the consolidated samples were investigated under different loads from 1 N to 4 N by reciprocating wear tests at room temperature. The Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to examine the wear tracks to analyze the wear characteristics as a function of applied loads. The relative comparison of the wear results showed that under the lower loads of 1 N and 2 N, Fe88Ni8Zr4 alloy has …

In the hot-rolling process, steel was subjected to high temperatures which results in the formation of an oxide layer called scale. The oxide scale can be affected to the surface characteristic of the hot-rolled steel product. The scale must be completely removed from the surface of the steel before further processing. This research aimed to examine the adhesion behavior of scale on hot-rolled steel with different silicon contents (0.01, 0.12, 0.18, and 0.29 wt%) using a tensile testing machine with an observation setup. The results showed that the scale thickness decreased with increasing silicon content in the range of 9 …
