The purpose of this study was to determine how Indiana Agricultural Science and Business (ASB) teachers perceived the impact of integrating science on agricultural education programs. The population consisted of all Indiana ASB teachers employed during the fall 1999 semester (N = 243). The Integrating Science Survey Instrument developed by Thompson (1996) was used to identify the perceptions of the ASB instructors. From the data it was concluded that many of Indiana’s Agricultural Science and Business instructors have responded positively to the call for the integration of science into the agricultural education curriculum. Purpose. The of this study was to examine the perceived need for, the recommended competencies of, and the delivery systems suggested, for a secondary school principal internship program in the Seventh-day Adventist educational system.

This study evolved from the belief that the significant turnover of principals represents a challenge for Adventist education. Because of this, the supply of qualified and experienced candidates is not available in sufficient numbers to meet the current personnel needs for secondary school administrators.

Problem. Limited research has been done regarding the magnitude of the attributes of peer mediators and its impact on elementary students. The purpose of this study was to examine fourth- through sixth-grade students' perception of the attributes of peer mediators at four rural elementary schools located in Pinconning, Michigan.

Method. This study examined the fourth- through sixth-grade students' perception of the attributes of peer mediators using a qualitative approach. The data collection procedures included using a purposive sample of 24 peer mediators in focus groups, as well as 74 peacemakers and 79 disputants who participated in a questionnaire. Questions …

Traditional staff development does not suffice for emerging technologies and evolving pedagogy for teacher use of technology in instruction. Societal changes have produced new needs. Change causes a need to systematically look at progress and the attributes associated with the diffusion of innovations (Rogers, 1995). Roswell (1997) is only one of several schools who have dedicated considerable resources to developing a technology staff development plan with results in higher percentages of teachers using technology in the classroom. The experiences of a prisoner detained at Camp Dent, a Union prison camp in Louisville, have been found in the faded pages of a long-forgotten diary. Five years ago, an alumnus of the University of Tennessee at Martin donated two diaries, several letters, and a cracked ambrotype of a relative, Private Van Buren Oldham, who fought in the Civil War. For over one hundred and thirty years the donor's family had kept these records in an old tin box, passing it on from generation to generation. In the spring of 1996 the great-grandson of Private Van Buren Oldham gave these …

Culture is at the core of language teaching. Because classrooms are contact zones (Pratt 1991), teachers must have a well-developed sense of their own intercultural competence so that they may better facilitate the cross-cultural discovery inherent in language teaching. Teacher preparation programs need to provide opportunities for new teachers to increase their intercultural awareness. The purpose of this research was to qualitatively understand the experiences of pre-service teachers in a required culture-learning class at a large urban university.
