The five areas of study were: (1) The Earth, (2) Living Things, (3) The Universe, (4) Matter and Energy, and (5) Health.
The textbook series used were: (1) The John C. Winston Company, (2) The L. W. Singer Company, (3) The D. C. Heath Company, (4) The Macmillan Company, and (5) The Scott Foresman Company.
The Role Of The Elementary School Principal In Administration Of Cuisenaire Materials, Vernon John Harkness
The Role Of The Elementary School Principal In Administration Of Cuisenaire Materials, Vernon John Harkness
Graduate Student Research Papers
It was the purpose of this study (1) to review literature regarding new trends in the elementary arithmetic program; (2) to investigate the role of the elementary school principal in administration of Cuisenaire materials; and (3) to investigate the current elementary arithmetic programs in the Highline School District #401 and, where evidence was available, in other school districts using Cuisenaire materials. The program in the Highline School District was investigated to determine the curricular goals and content of schools using Cuisenaire materials and of schools not using such. Other school districts using Cuisenaire materials were investigated to obtain further results …
An Overview Of Mechanism And Function Of Respiration In The Human Organism, James Morley Freese
An Overview Of Mechanism And Function Of Respiration In The Human Organism, James Morley Freese
Graduate Student Research Papers
The purpose of this paper was to take a seemingly simple concept of zoology, reveal in some measure its complexity, and show how this concept is often inadequately expressed and taught.
Is There A Way To Teach Terminology In The Biological Science?, Kenneth Eugene Bongers
Is There A Way To Teach Terminology In The Biological Science?, Kenneth Eugene Bongers
Graduate Student Research Papers
The present :national emphasis on the teaching of Biological Science in High School has brought about many inquiries relative to teaching terminology in a meaningful way. Every biology teacher is faced with the problem of how to communicate the meaning of terms every biology book assumes the students already know.
A Study Of Benefits Gained From Industrial Mathematics By Students In The Inglewood Unified School District, Inglewood, California, Roy Dale Stull
A Study Of Benefits Gained From Industrial Mathematics By Students In The Inglewood Unified School District, Inglewood, California, Roy Dale Stull
All Master's Theses
In order to study the benefits gained from Industrial Mathematics by the students in the Inglewood Unified School District, something of a geometric approach has been used. Starting from several varied points, an attempt has been made to plot a single “unknown point,” the actual value of Industrial Mathematics.
Providing For Individual Differences In The Elementary School Arithmetic Program, Robert S. Allen
Providing For Individual Differences In The Elementary School Arithmetic Program, Robert S. Allen
Graduate Student Research Papers
How can individual differences be provided for in the elementary school arithmetic program? It is obvious that if all pupils in the elementary schools are required to follow the same course of study, read the same books, do the same exercises, solve the same problems, and pass the same examinations, there can be little provision for individual differences. It was the purpose of this study to present practices used or usable to provide for individual differences.
A Study Of Mathematics Curriculum For Grades 4-6, Jack J. Guns
A Study Of Mathematics Curriculum For Grades 4-6, Jack J. Guns
Graduate Student Research Papers
Teachers are being encouraged to achieve competency in improved mathematics instruction through workshops, "in-service training," National Science Foundation Scholarships, Carnegie Foundation Scholarships, and college summer schools. By providing training and sufficient motivation, educators can solve the primary problem in revamping our mathematics' curriculum. But educators are also confronted with the serious challenge of defining and organizing a sound modern curriculum drawn from research on the basic concepts students must have as they move from one level to the next.
A Study Of Design And Structural Considerations In Planning Secondary School Science Classrooms, Ellis Eugene Wells
A Study Of Design And Structural Considerations In Planning Secondary School Science Classrooms, Ellis Eugene Wells
Graduate Student Research Papers
It was the purpose of this paper to present a survey of present day thinking on the design and construction of secondary school classrooms and to point out many features that have won general acceptance as being educationally desirable and financially feasible.
Aerospace Education In The Sixth Grade, Edith Marie Jackson
Aerospace Education In The Sixth Grade, Edith Marie Jackson
All Master's Theses
The purpose of this study was twofold: to formulate an aerospace education handbook providing pertinent information and material which may be woven into existing sixth grade courses in the elementary curriculum and to make a careful evaluation of one aerospace program in a sixth grade classroom. The problems were: (1) selection and organization of appropriate information and material for the handbook; (2) determining suggested teaching procedures and activities; and (3) preparation and administration of evaluative instruments for the program.
