In this critical reflection, we discuss the concepts of ‘care’ (hooks, 1994) and ‘vulnerability’ (Cano Abadía, 2021) as they relate to the student-teacher power dynamics instructors often face – consciously or not – in graduate-level post-secondary contexts. We suggest that, when practiced together, care and vulnerability offer ways to diminish power imbalances between instructors and students.

The alignment of curriculum content with standards is a quality improvement measure used to identify gaps or overlaps in academic content. Curriculum mapping results, while commonly used, are rarely reported. Undergraduate faculty mapped 11 courses in a single timepoint using a web-based curriculum mapping tool. Quantitative results were calculated and compared to defined client needs categories. A validation analysis was performed by mapping one course in triplicate. Faculty feedback following the exercise was obtained by online survey. Three client needs categories were determined to be marginally out of range in the initial analysis of the quantitative mapping data. The curriculum …

This white paper argues that the current system for collecting data on student withdrawals at their university is inadequate. The current withdrawal form lacks detail and makes it difficult to understand the reasons why students leave courses. This is a problem because it hinders efforts to improve student persistence (completion of courses).

Objective: Our objective was to examine the perceptions regarding the teaching and learning of English of students in 16 undergraduate programs at a state public university in Mexico.

Method: In our qualitative case study, participating students responded to queries about their experiences learning English at the university, as well as their educational aspirations upon completion of their university studies.

Results: Despite their relevance to language immersion and competency, students struggle to combine prior experiences with current learning. Given Mexico’s English education system and past national initiatives, most participants say they still speak basic English. It is also clear that the …

Instructors should not assume that graduate students understand meanings of terms for various social identities. In this article, I highlight a teaching activity I created titled, “What’s in a name?” that requires graduate students to research historical and contemporary uses of various racial, ethnic, gender, sexuality, and immigration terms. The assignment helps graduate students develop inclusive vocabulary and deepen their understanding of their positionality. It also supports braver classroom contexts for students and instructors. This paper examines various approaches to evaluating the classroom teacher and discusses the inclusion of dispositions in the evaluation process. A random sample of 150 teachers were asked to complete an online survey focusing on the inclusion of dispositions in their formal evaluations. They were asked to report what specific dispositions were evaluated, and if the specific dispositions were operationally defined. A summary of their responses to the survey items is discussed.

However, few studies have explored preschool teachers’ efficacy of using coaching through ‘Play and puppetry programs as approaches to developing children’s emotional regulation, socio-emotional learning and wellbeing. The Invertebrates, specifically lumbricina, can serve as a model system for science education when studying neuron viability and the impact of various drugs on conduction velocity within the nervous system. Earthworms prove to be ideal candidates due to their easily stimulated and measurable large axon bundles. Earthworms are also inexpensive, noncontroversial, and easily sedated, making them suitable for STEM learning. Each earthworm underwent a standardized anesthetization procedure with an ethanol and water mixture before being placed on a nerve bath. Elanco Animal Health's (EAH) Seresto collars are used to protect canines and felines from common lxodids (ticks) and Siphonaptera (fleas). They work by slowly releasing the active ingredients onto the pet's skin throughout eight months. Recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has revealed there have been a total of 100,000 incidents, 2,700 deaths in canines and felines, and 894 cases of harm to humans due to the use of Seresto collars. Since 1999, drug overdoses have taken the lives of over 1 million people. Of the 23.5 million Americans needing substance abuse treatment, only 11 % seek help. While attending clinics at a large, urban teaching hospital, opioids were inappropriately handled. As a participant, we collect/send raw data that is compiled. Our preliminary data from the 2022 (Year 1 ), 2023 (Year 2), and 2024 (Year 3) lambing seasons have been included. Many of the studies show significant inconsistencies in the amount of nicotine reported on e-liquid products and the amount detected in the e-liquids. The current methods rely on preparing e-liquids for analysis by performing dilutions based on volume, but due to the viscosity of the liquids this preparation technique is prone to method errors.
