A proven, highly structured microteaching model that goes beyond mere presentation skills and “shooting-from-the-hip” group feedback has successfully prepared both faculty and graduate students for their teaching responsibilities. This approach uses a three-part process: (1) presentation; (2) one-on-one feedback from mentor while the group, using structured roles, prepares feedback; and (3) group feedback that is both constructive and consensus-based.

In 2005, we produced a well-received article and presentation entitled, "'In a Case, In a Book, They Will Not Take a Second Look!' Critical Reading in the Legal Writing Classroom." The article examined the educational foundations of critical reading, as well as, critical reading techniques. The purpose was to establish that law students need instruction in critical reading. In the article, we offered creative solutions that had been successfully used in our legal writing classes. As higher education accreditation agencies emphasize achievement of general education learning goals for undergraduate students, departments are increasingly required to identify and assess the contributions of their disciplines to achievement of these goals. This exploratory study conducted at a large urban university and its satellite campus seeks to identify students' perceptions of the contributions of the Introduction to Sociology course to the general education goals specified by a single university. This study also seeks to identify the most frequently used pedagogies used by introductory sociology instructors. The primary objective of this mixed methods study was to explore the parameters of college students' perspectives on classroom learning environments. Specifically, the investigation sought to identify and describe the relevant features of the college classroom context that undergraduate students distinguished as promoting and supporting academic motivation at one four-year postsecondary institution. Secondarily, the study sought to examine the extent to which there was an association between the achievement goals students endorsed and their perspectives concerning the motivating features of the classroom learning environment. Service-learning projects are a useful method for students to learn both the practice and value of statistical methods. Effective service learning, however, depends on several factors and can be implemented according to a variety of models. In this article, different models for incorporating service-learning in statistics courses are presented along with example statistics courses. Principles for good service-learning practice will also be presented as a means for assessing the quality of a service-learning course component.

Innovation Studies In Different Countries: Future Research Agenda For Pakistan, Syed Awais Ahmad Tipu

Business Review

This paper presents a selected literature review on innovation management practices in different countries. A tabular analysis of previous case studies is presented. The paper also presents the overview of innovation surveys which have been conducted in selected countries using the Oslo manual guidelines developed by the OECD. Different studies show the innovation management practices of firms operating in various countries. However, little is known about the present state of innovation management activities in Pakistan. This paper will set forth the future research agenda for Pakistan with regard to managing innovation.
