It is well documented that barriers exist for underrepresented minorities to enter the field of medicine and even more competitive residencies. As defined by the NRMP, competitive specialties include but are not limited to Interventional Radiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Vascular Surgery, Neurosurgery, Dermatology, and Otornylogy (NRMP-AMA). A large number of osteopathic medical school graduates have a history of going into primary care specialties because many osteopathic medical schools have a primary care focus (Primary Care- Osteopathic Medicine). ABSTRACT
Introduction
Many studies have investigated the association between vitamin D and cardiovascular disease (CVD), but literature has shown various results. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of vitamin D in CVD.
Methods
Data source
The data were obtained from the 2015-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database and included adults aged 20 years and older with a history of CVD. Descriptive statistics for participants’ demographics, vitamin D levels, CVD status, and risk factors were reported. Private-sector and public-sector organizations have increasingly built specific business units for securing company assets, reputation, and lives, known as security operations centers (SOCs). Depending on the organization, these centers may also be referred to as global security operations centers, cybersecurity operations centers, fusion centers, and corporate command centers, among many other names. The concept of centralized function within an organization to improve an organization’s security posture has attracted both the government and the private sectors to either build their own SOCs or hire third-party SOC companies.

In recent years, much debate has surrounded the potential for audiences to be mislead by several common practices when reporting statistical significance tests. Two editors of Numeracy share the journals perspectives on these questions. As an interdisciplinary journal, we recognize and honor the genre differences represented by our authors and audience members. As a consequence, the journal is open to many practices. Still, we acknowledge the concerns raised by the American Statistical Association and others and encourage authors to write with care and clarity, however results may be represented.

Student-Developed Laboratory Activities Using Rolling Object On An Inclined Plane To Improve Student Learning, Qing Shao, Joseph Ametepe

This work presents an alternative method of teaching undergraduate introductory physics laboratory. Students are presented with an experimental scenario “Rolling object on an inclined plane” and guided to develop their own laboratory activities in a studio-style setting. The overall goal of this alternative approach is to shift part of the learning responsibility to students. Through guided self-developed activities, students establish the connections between different physics concepts. Such a shift makes students active participants in the classroom, allows them to explore ideas independently, and discover through doing the exploring.
