This has resulted in ‘nature deficit disorder’ among the pupils especially among those who are living in urban areas which are surrounded by the built environments. This present study aims to investigate learners’ motivation in the learning of English as a second language at university level and the factors that affect their motivation. The purpose of this research is to study the personality profile of teachers in a secondary school. Based on the Leonard Personality Inventory (1999), the behavioral orientations of teachers were examined, using 50 samples from a school in Petaling Jaya. The findings of the study have shown that the teachers in the school were in the Neutral behavioral domain which highlights the teachers as agreeable, caring, easygoing and warm personalities. This study investigates the relationships between socio-demographic and behavioral factors and academic performance of students at pre-university level in a private college. The subjects for this study are students pursuing Cambridge 'A' Level and South Australian Matriculation (SAM) courses at the college. The findings of this study show that past academic achievement (SPM aggregate) is the most important factor determining the performance at pre-university level. Those who obtained good SPM results tend to excel at pre-university level. Examination results also vary widely according to the socio-demographic characteristics of the students. This study was designed primarily to determine the understanding of the nature of science among science graduate teacher trainees and to identify their misconceptions of the nature of science. The study also investigated the relationships between the trainees' understanding of the nature of science and the independent variables of formal reasoning ability, academic background, and gender. The subjects of the study comprised 80 teacher trainees from four teacher training colleges in Peninsular Malaysia.
