Implications For Supervisors And Counselor Educators In Human Sexuality, Reka K. Farago Dr.

Journal of Counseling Sexology & Sexual Wellness: Research, Practice, and Education

This article reports a phenomenological analysis of 13 counselor educators about their supervision experiences with sexuality counseling topics. The eight resulting themes were managing conflicting emotions, creating conditions, values, advocacy, student focus, language, multicultural competency, and student autonomy. Findings suggested the importance of supervisors working with process rather than sexual content when supervising Counselors in Training (CITs) for sexual health topics they encountered during counseling training. Participant experiences and tools were discussed, such as allowing CITs personal processing, and teaching contextual understanding. Implications for supervision and future research shared.

During the 2019-2020 academic year, this project team reviewed tools for intercultural and global learning and assessment. Our objective was to consider opportunities to support student growth and development and assess student learning at the program and/or institutional levels. We looked at some instruments we currently use, along with several others. In addition, we reviewed several content platforms that support student learning. While each had its pros and cons, we identified three tools for a pilot:

Due to wildfires in fall of 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic in spring of 2020, Sonoma State University lost 50 service-learning courses, and as a result, almost 900 fewer students completed a service-learning course than the previous year. During the summer of 2020, the Center for Community Engagement began developing service-learning projects that were designed to be done remotely and address either COVID-19 or engage students with involvement in the fall 2020 election. Much scholarship available on team-teaching focuses on K-12 programming, with limited examples in post-secondary education. Adding to the growing research on college-level team-taught courses, this reflection describes how interdisciplinary team-teaching can offernot only a pedagogically innovative experience for students but also highlight the strengths of the faculty in their teaching and research areas. In addition to reviewing the differences between interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary curricula, we reflect on our experience deliveringGlobalization as a team-taught course, designing learning outcomes and course material, and negotiating classroom strategies, highlighting successful components and considering future iterations.

This paper explores the relationship between homework and academic achievement in the areas of homework time, parental involvement and home support, and teacher ideation and student conceptualization. The findings of 30 academic articles were analyzed and compiled into literature reviews. All relevant findings were categorized based upon their association to three areas. One, time spent on homework was positively correlated with student academic achievement. First, the study examined the effects of these initiatives on the rates of students’ math anxiety. Second, the study evaluated policies related to curriculum requirements for their effectiveness in improving test scores, closing racial and socioeconomic gaps, and course failure rates. This paper offers best practices for implementing an experiential learning component into an accounting curriculum in order to provide multiple experiential learning opportunities that are “for credit.” Sometimes employers may not be able to provide internship opportunities to students, or students may not be able to dedicate the required amount of time to obtain an internship in accounting. While in recent decades a number of efforts have been coordinated to address the issue of gender imbalance in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines, the problem still persists. Many authors speak of the ‘leaky’ pipeline metaphor that describes the loss of women in STEM areas before reaching senior roles. Research shows that women who leave are unlikely to return.
