A Comparative Study Of Student Directed Dialogue Journal Writing And Teacher Directed Dialogue Journal Writing, Yolanda Paez Bailey

The purpose of this study was to compare student directed dialogue journal writing with teacher directed dialogue journal writing. Eleven students in the student directed group wrote about self-generated topics while 12 students in the teacher directed group wrote on topics selected by the teacher. Data were analyzed in the areas of amount of writing generated, types of language functions, topics and the ability to stay on topic, level of technical improvement, types of questions posed by students and teacher, and attitudes towards writing. This Literature Curriculum Guide has been prepared for Learning Disabled Students enrolled in special English classes at Hardaway High School in Columbus, Georgia. It was motivated by the observation that curricular materials for secondary Learning Disabled pupils were limited to content in grammar and other aspects of written language. Literature as content for these pupils had been completely overlooked.

Secondary English instruction, when using grammar only as content, is restricted to productive aspects of English. This restriction would necessarily deprive the Learning Disabled pupil of experiences with the heritage of literature shared and enjoyed by their peers. And, Learning Disabled …

During the 1979-80 school year, two Algebra I classes were involved in a study to test the effects of two methods for reviewing homework problems on students' achievements and attitudes. One review procedure was to solve and explain each problem during the class period that followed the class period in which the homework assignment had been made. A status survey of media in selected high school classrooms is the focus of this study. Questionnaires were sent to Spanish teachers in Region IV of the state of Illinois.

The purpose of the study was to gather data concerning the quantity, use, and adequacy of media as well as the selecting, funding, and housing of that media. Excluded from the study were software which accompany textbooks currently in use.

School District 205 has erased a large portion of their videotaped library on advice of the district lawyer. This field study is a three-pronged effort: (1) to conduct a survey among district faculty to discover the attitudes toward the usefulness of a series of ten videotaped programs depicting excellent speech communication models performing in three basic areas--acting, interpretation, and public address, (2) to produce these ten programs and add them to the library, and (3) to survey selected groups of students to aquire their reactions to the tapes.

A Study To Identify Exploratory Experiences In Career Education For Sterling Junior High School And To Implement Career Exploration Into Selected Industrial Arts Courses, Edward N. Baugh

This paper presents a plan for implementing career education into curriculum at Sterling Junior High School. The first phase of implementation would take place within selected eighth and ninth-grade woodworking classes. This would consist of exploratory experiences in career education related to the subject area of woodworking.

The second phase would implement career education into the other subject areas at the junior high level. This too, would consist of exploratory experiences in career education as related to each different subject.

Recommendations include further research and field testing of the suggested career education concepts so that optimum implementation can be achieved.
