The study's objective was to gain an understanding of presidential longevity by gathering archival data. This quantitative study collected data about eight predictor variables that included the Carnegie classification, gender, institutional status (public or private), institutional wealth, insider/outsider status, institutional quality, reporting line, and prior experience for two Carnegie classification groups that included doctoral and baccalaureate liberal arts institutions (N = 4 71 ). The assumption underlying this study was a belief that leadership stability is important to a particular institution. This is a mixed methods study designed to gather and analyze information on the grading and instructional evaluation patterns among adjunct faculty at two-year colleges. Quantitative data on assigned grades and student evaluation results for a group of 22 adjunct faculty members, who had taught on a continuing basis at a single community college over a five-year period, was collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics. A representative sub-group of eight of the 22 adjunct faculty was interviewed to respond to the quantitative findings on patterns in grading and student evaluations and possible links between the two and to add their …

The Hispanic population is increasing in the United States and especially in Texas. As the population grows, so does the number of students enrolled in our public schools, and Hispanic students are already the majority in some states. Thus, one would expect a high increase of Hispanic graduates, but this is not the case. Surprisingly, Hispanic students are dropping out of school at an alarming rate. Why are these students dropping out of school? What can educational leaders do to prevent this phenomenon? Social-emotional skill acquisition in infancy can effect positive outcomes in all developmental domains as the child matures. Caregiver/infant interaction provides a critical context for positive social-emotional development in the infant (i.e., attachment, emotional regulation, communication). Within interaction, these three areas of infant social-emotional development are fostered by the dyadic relationship between caregiver and infant. However, infant skill acquisition within these areas of social-emotional development may be interrupted by risk factors in the caregiving environment. One of the many problems facing today’s schools is the need to raise academic achievement while facing the continuing issue of budget limitations. Paramount High School is in a lower socioeconomic suburban community in southern CA. Eighty seven percent of the students in the district receive free or reduced lunch and 21.9% were below the poverty level. Forty percent of the high school students were foreign born, 71.8% speak a language other than English at home, 34% were identified as English Language Learners, 50% of the students’ parents never graduated from high school, and the 81% Hispanic population creates a …

When determining the effectiveness of an academic program it is important to assess the program internally through the institution and academic leadership. But, it is also important to assess the graduates that have benefited from the program. This study assessed a doctoral program at a regional university in a metropolitan area. The doctoral program was eliminated due to financial constraints. However, an alumni evaluation was not conducted on this program prior to it be eliminated. The purpose of this study was to conduct an alumni evaluation on this doctoral program to determine its effects with alumni.

Faculty and staff in higher education are challenged to deliver education in innovative ways. This innovation requires an expedient method of governance and necessitates careful examination of the organization’s structural, cultural, and decision-making processes. To meet these demands, leaders in higher education must examine decision-making processes and design governance models that respond quickly and efficiently to their myriad of constituents.

The study focuses on the principals’ leadership and empowerment as a curriculum leader in meeting district and state mandated performance goals. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 represents a key increase in the role of the federal government in public education.

The research questions in the study addressed the levels of principals’ instructional leadership and empowerment as associated with number of years as teacher, number of years as principal, participation in an aspiring principal program, school size, school locale, and whether their school passed district or state accountability test.
