The purpose of this study was to determine if participation in the Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) had an impact on rural educator candidates’ attitudes toward poverty (ATP). The CAPS is a one-hour simulation made up of four 15-minute weeks. Participants in the simulation take on the roles of individuals living in poverty. Three research questions were analyzed to determine if a difference existed in the ATP at three points in time: Pretest, Posttest #1, and Posttest #2. Two data collection points during this semester are from a required performance assessment (edTPA) and a perception survey (CM Exit). Twelve administrators at Michigan Upper Peninsula (U.P.) high schools participated in 12 separate structured interviews to identify programs, services, and approaches to address trauma-related outcomes. Participants were three U.P. superintendents, eight principals, and one Intermediate School District (ISD) social worker who described a convergence of factors affecting assessment measures of programs, services, and approaches to address student trauma-related outcomes in U.P. high schools. Personality types, learning style preferences, and self-efficacy domains of ninth-grade students in southwest Missouri were explored in this study. The study was conducted to shed light on needs assessments used to identify learner differences due to the rise of mixed-ability classrooms. Five selected schools participated in the study during the 2019-2020 school year. The Big Five Personality survey was used to identify the dominant personality type of each participant: openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, or neuroticism.
