This talk will review the literature and examine existing physical spaces using virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), often referred together as extended reality (XR), to teach learners in an academic setting. Attendees will better understand best practices and ways of addressing potential challenges when designing a physical XR classroom space for higher education. A physical XR classroom provides institutions with a dedicated space for educational courses and workshops, which utilize XR for both one- off sessions and an entire semester (Pirker, Holly, and Gütl 2020). The talk will help answer the question, why a dedicated XR classroom?

The purpose of this article is to present an argument for the uptake of the online taxonomy of racism as an analytical framework for online analyses of racism to support the adoption of critical race media literacy (CRML) within social studies education. First, we provide an overview of the utility of the taxonomy of online racism. We then offer a discussion of how hashtag analysis is currently used to study racism in other fields and can be adapted for use among teacher educators, pre-service, and in-service social studies teachers. The purpose of this qualitative multiple case study was to understand how leaders at two community colleges that participated in Guided Pathways used early momentum metrics (EMMs) to change institutional policies or practices to improve student success and degree completion rates. By focusing on EMMs as short-term indicators, leaders could track the effectiveness of institutional changes for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Guided Pathways. Writing is an essential skill for students to have now and later in life. Many students’ writing skills are not proficient for their grade level due to writing being overshadowed by other core academic subjects/areas. Written Expression Curriculum-Based Measurement (WE-CBM) is used to identify those at-risk for poor writing performance, as well as to monitor students’ progress towards reaching an academic goal. This study examined how student performance changed from fall to winter on typed and written responses using WE-CBM. Purpose: There is limited evidence describing burnout among graduate health professions students, including pharmacy students, and there is a need for educational institutions to mitigate burnout and promote future healthcare provider wellness. Methods: A burnout prevention elective course was developed within an accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy program. Course faculty transitioned from live to fully remote instruction in April 2020. The modified course format combined discussion-based lectures, burnout self-assessments, reflective writing assignments, and applications-based presentations. Results: Twenty-one second-year pharmacy students completed the elective, and 13 completed post-course evaluations (61.9% response rate). Evaluations indicated substantial student support, with 92.3% “strongly agree” and …
