Influence Of Mentors Of Female Development Among Higher Education Administrative Professionals, Courtney Van Leuvan

Leadership is a socially constructed concept that has been seen as a masculine quality; because of this women struggle reaching leadership positions and face many challenges when holding leadership positions. This study investigated the development of leadership styles and qualities of selected female administrative leaders at Rowan University through survey and interview data. The study specifically looked at the influence of these women’s mentors on their leadership development. The findings of the study showed that the women reported no negative experiences with male mentors, however several with female mentors. The interviews also revealed that there were differences among qualities and …

Schools of Education across the US are some of the furthest behind in the race to internationalize departments across campuses in higher education. What does this mean for students in the K-12 classroom? The purpose of this case study is to explore the internationalization of teacher education within the context of a medium-sized state university in the South-East of the US. Working with the School of Education on this campus, qualitative interviews and surveys were administered to faculty and pre-service teachers to understand the extent of internationalization at the university, and the needs of the K-12 classroom. This capstone paper explores ENLACES, the Latin American and Caribbean Meeting Space for Higher Education, or in Spanish, Espacio de Encuentro Latinamericano y Caribeño de Educación Superior (ENLACES). In the same fashion that the UNESCO-Bologna Accords gave rise to the European Higher Education Area, so, too, did the UNESCO-International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean give rise to ENLACES. ENLACES is an evolving, transformative education policy that promotes the region’s integration and internationalization of higher education through collaborative means. The UNO Academic Assessment Committee is responsible for guiding the process of campus-wide academic assessment of student learning, and to that end, it conducts regular reviews of student learning outcome (SLO) assessment in each degree granted. Assessments of student learning occur at different levels (e.g., task level, course level, program level). The focus here is on program level assessment with an emphasis on end-of-program student learning outcomes and objectives. This guide is intended to assist academic units with developing an assessment plan for each degree program and organizing the relevant information into an assessment report.

Goal Complexity In Financial Aid And The Contingency Of Organizational Sector, Amanda Rutherford

Expectations of public institutions of higher education now include a growing number of competing goals. Financial assistance policies are expected to reward student talent, expand access to education, boost retention and graduation rates, and more. Yet research has not generally provided an empirical assessment of whether and how higher levels of goal complexity are linked to institutional processes and outcomes. The present study examines financial assistance goal complexity in two- and four-year public institutions using survey data from the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association (SHEEO). Findings show that both two-year and fouryear colleges are affected similarly by goal complexity …
