A significant amount of literature exists on student achievement, social emotional learning, student mental health, and related student developmental needs. There are recommendations and research about best practices and research around successful programs schools can utilize to address and support student needs. Civic Engagement In Education: Insights From California's Local Control Funding Formula, Julie A. Marsh, Tasminda K. Dhaliwal, Michelle Hall, Morgan S. Polikoff

In this policy brief, we use the case of California's Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) to provide policy makers and educators guidance on how to involve the public in goal setting and resource distribution decisions. We provide clarity around who is and is not participating, why, and what broader lessons we can draw for implementing federal and state education policies mandating public engagement. Our findings indicate tremendous room for improvement. LCFF's target populations (e.g., low-income, English learners) are not more likely to be aware of or participate in decisions than nontargeted groups, which suggests weak accountability for the use of …

This study explored the anti-black lived experiences of 9 senior-level Black men who are administrators at Historically White Institutions. Black critical theory (BlackCrit) and theory of marginality and mattering are the guiding frameworks used to examine the lived experiences of the Black administrators. The purpose of this study was to reveal the ways that Black senior-level administrators process, navigate, and make meaning of their lived experiences and anti-blackness at HWIs. Mental health issues in faculty-led short-term study abroad (FLSTSA) cours­es are becoming increasingly prevalent. To date, little is known about the role mental health issues play in study abroad courses, including the implications for student affairs practice. This study examines the role of mental health issues in faculty-led short-term study abroad courses, from the perspec­tive of the faculty instructors. Findings from this study provide a nuanced understanding of how student mental health issues shape study abroad ex­periences for the student experiencing mental health issues abroad, other students, and the faculty instructors.

This study was designed to explore the undergraduate and post-undergraduate experiences of African American STEM alumni from the University of South Carolina from a strengths-perspective. The method utilized for this qualitative study was phenomenological analysis. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 African American alumni who graduated between 2010 and 2020 and majored in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). Critical Race Theory and community cultural wealth served as theoretical frameworks for this research. The properties of silicon carbide layers deposited to restore spent resources and unusable silicon heaters are investigated. The reasons for the low working life of heaters restored by applying only layers of silicon carbide are clarified. The possibility of restoring and increasing the working life of unusable silicon heaters by applying sandwich layers of silicon carbide and molybdenum disilicide is shown. In the article, mountain-brown soils differ from other soils in their development, genesis, evolution, chemical properties, especially mechanical composition, as well as many other properties and characteristics. These soils are considered as a key factor in their separation from soils, especially with their rockiness, humus content, carbonates, and rock distribution. The results obtained from the point of view of mechanical composition state that mountain brown soils are soils with medium and heavy mechanical composition.
