The ESL Reading course described in this report was conducted for Latin American scholarship students during the summer of 1973 at the School for International Training. Since it was intended to be a supplement to the regular classes of these students, every effort was made to allow the course direction to develop according to the needs of the participants. Although the original thrust of the program was to focus upon reading attitudes, utilizing the reading interests of the students, a parallel focus on reading skills evolved. The Resource Center of the School for International Training's first three-week workshop in methodology for teachers of English as a Second Language was designed to encourage program participants to explore their individual interests independently, to share their ideas and professional experience in a series of ten evening workshops. Materials in the Center included a library of texts and books discussing ESL methodology and theory, collections of games, realia, visual aids for language teaching, and supplies including audio-visual equipment for making original classroom materials. The center was deemed successful, a viable idea for future development.

This report is about team teaching in two practice teaching experiences, one is Spanish and the other in EFL. Its purpose is to explore the pros and cons of team teaching and is primarily based on personal experience and research. The team teaching experiences related in this report share a number of similar points. However, one was based on a hierarchical relationship between the two teachers and the other was not. Therefore, there are also a number of differences corresponding to the organization of the teams. The similarities and differences are discussed in the conclusion.

The purposes of this study are (1) to provide information about the vital part that music has played in the Polynesian cultures of Hawaii, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, and New Zealand, (2) to present in written form heretofore unpublished children's songs and dances from the five principal cultures of Polynesia, and (3) to provide explanatory material on the use of these songs.

The lack of a handbook in the schools of the Marshalls District has resulted in valuable information and history being lost in each successive turnover of personnel in the Trust Territory. Every year brings a group of new recruits into the educational system. This particular handbook contains valuable information on the past history and specific terminology required of one who will teach in this area. Special emphasis was given to the educational system in the Marshall Islands.

The purpose of this study was (1) to aid in developing oral language patterns essential for better understandings of some common concepts in English; (2) to provide seven field trips from rural to urban communities for stimulating first-hand experiences; (3) to couple these trips with an extensive use of related audio-visual materials for immediate reinforcement learning; (4) to originate oral dialogue in English for classroom practices before and after each excursion; and (5) to test the significance of the gains made in use of English.
