While many data collection tools exist to elicit how individuals think about prototypical STEM persons (e.g., the Draw-a-Scientist assessment), such tools fail to capture the nuance of how individuals think about STEM and STEM personhood and how those perceptions change according to context and “in real life”. We designed the Child Science Identity Interview Guide and Protocol to learn about how youth see everyday experiences as “STEM” (or a particular subfield) and think of themselves and those in their social orbits as STEM persons.

Although STEM is an essential feature of 21st-century education and learning, there is a lack of awareness about it in Pakistan, especially at the K-12 and tertiary levels. This paper examines a needed shift in teaching secondary science students as more states and school districts adopt the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for assessing student skills and knowledge. Students with intellectual disabilities (ID) and neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) often experience barriers to accessing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) instruction in the general classroom. In the United States, assessment is seen as a lever that can facilitate high-quality education. This study on English learners, students whose native language is not English, was based on data from eighth-grade English learners’ performance on science general and content-specific (physical, life, and earth science) standardized exams and an English language proficiency exam. The current study investigated the impact of an integrated STEM collaborative approach embedded in a science methods course on early childhood and elementary preservice teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and curricular role identity for teaching science, as well as the potential relationship between these two constructs. Participants were recruited from a group of preservice early childhood and elementary teacher candidates (N = 65) completing an undergraduate teacher education program at a university in the southeastern United States.

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحديد نسبة القيم المتطرفة في اختبارات تيمس الدولية (TIMSS, 2011)، والكشف عن تقديرات المعالم للفقرات ودقتها وفقًا للنموذج اللوجستي ثلاثي المعلمة أثناء مُعالجة القيم المتطرفة في اختبارات تيمس الدولية (TIMSS, 2011). تكونت العينة من 531 فرداً، وتم تحديد القيم المتطرفة بطريقة الرسم الصندوقي ومعالجتها بطريقة متوسط البتر، وتم الحكم على دقة تقدير المعالم باستخدام الخطأ المعياري كمؤشر دقة.
