The purpose of this study was to identify and describe from an ecological perspective the characteristics contributing to collaboration, empowerment and effectiveness of federally mandated Ryan White Title I and Title II planning councils and consortia within the State of Florida.

A case study approach within two (2) community health planning partnerships, specifically those related to. HIV/AIDS consortia, was used to gather data over one and a half years. The methodology included a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, utilizing documents, administering several survey instruments, observing meetings, and conducting individual interviews. Group play treatment and group counseling are described in relation to the aggressive behaviors of children. School teams perform assessments to aid in the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In this thesis, a post-hoc descriptive study looked at what diagnostic model school teams in 3 Iowa Area Education Agencies used in assessing children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Three categories were used to describe the assessment process for this study, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th Ed.) (DSM-IV), Russell Barkley's 1990 Model, and an Other category. The researcher reviewed 24 student files to determine what diagnostic category was used in the assessment process. This study was designed to describe selected characteristics of certified substance abuse counselors in the state of lowa. Specifically, the following characteristics were considered: education, age, gender, length of time in profession, salary range, and if the counselor considers himself/herself recovering or not. Also, substance abuse treatment approaches, knowledge, and experiences of the substance abuse counselors were compiled. A questionnaire was designed and sent to 224 substance abuse counselors in Iowa. Sixty useable questionnaires were returned yielding a 26. 78% return rate. This practicum addressed the excessive disciplinary referrals and the academic failure rate of 7th- and 8th-grade students of Charlton County High School in Folkston, Georgia. The data collected during the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 school years served as the basis of this practicum. During the 1998-1999 school year, the 7th and 8th grades accounted for 46. 9% of all high school referrals, and an alarming 23. 5% of total students in 7th and 8th grade failed academic courses in social studies, math, science, and English. This report explains the progress of a program for participants who benefited more than the typical nonparticipants in an afterschool extended-day program. Schubert (1997) stated, "To develop school experience that genuinely engage students and teachers in citizenship, gives meaning and direction to their lives" (p. 82). Results of the study showed that the participants' development was a complex process about the natural reciprocity between self and others with an emphasis on building relationships and providing programs to support student needs. This report describes a student uniform program that was implemented in a suburban Atlanta Grades 6-8 middle school. The goals of the program were to decrease the number of student disciplinary referrals, increase attendance, and increase academic achievement. Students followed the student uniform policy, or their parents chose to have them opt out of the dress code. Only 3% of parents chose the opt-out option.

This study utilized two control schools for comparison. Questionnaires assessed parent, teacher, and student perceptions on the effectiveness of school uniforms. Quantitative data were compiled on the impact uniforms had on the number of disciplinary …
