Activity And Relationship In Social Science Teaching In The Fifth And Sixth Grades, Jenny B. Joyce Jul 1933

Activity And Relationship In Social Science Teaching In The Fifth And Sixth Grades, Jenny B. Joyce

Bachelors’ Theses

In using the term "activity", I am referring to pupil activity, the self-activity of the child. Brunkes claims that it is a necessary element in obvious. Geography is a living, growing subject. The old formal question-answer method, the inflexible outline method do not bring the required results. Furthermore, it is common knowledge in the realm of pedagogy that learning is an active process. The most effective learning takes place when the child is engaged in some purposeful activity. In other words, …

Ice Hockey, Arthur Peterson Jun 1933

Ice Hockey, Arthur Peterson

Bachelors’ Theses

Because of the drastic rule changes in ice hockey during the last few years all established systems of offense and defense must be radically changed or abolished. Besides adding more speed and scoring to the fame the rule changes have brought about a standardization of the game, causing the amateur and professional interpretation of rules to mean about the same. The usual official rules of any game are far from a description of the game, and the most descriptive literature on the subject is lacking in the definiteness of the rules. The present thesis aims to combine these two elements, …

Although there is abundant evidence that these commons have been used for play by each succeeding generation of boys since colonial times, these cannot be termed playgrounds, since the spaces were originally provided for pasturage and their utilization for municipal recreation came later.
