This research project represents an overview of how a rich art curriculum can enhance the general physical and emotional development of adolescents, thereby enriching their overall educational experience. The curriculum is based on the Colorado Model Content Standards for the Visual Arts. The lesson plans within the curriculum encompass ceramics, drawing, painting, fused glass, sculpture, and bookmaking. Many of the lesson plans in this project also incorporate mathematics, literacy and/or history, providing a well-rounded educational experience that embraces knowledge from various subjects and a variety of learning styles.

The purpose of this research project was to provide caregivers of children from age birth to four with facts and strategies about the promotion of early childhood literacy. In Chapter Four a pamphlet was developed that focuses on these specific areas: (a) literacy development, (b) emergent literacy, (c) creating a literate environment, (d) reading aloud to one's child, (e) talking with one's child, (f) choosing developmentally appropriate books, and (g) the reading stages. The author presented the concept of self-regulated learning (SRL) as a method to encourage students to become lifelong learners. A review of literature showed the need for lifelong learners. The literature revealed the theories behind SRL in education. In addition, the literature demonstrated that the components of SRL can be taught to students as young as the primary grades.
