Through Campus Ministry at Dominican, Rebecca was one of 11 students in 2014 who joined Campus Minister Lianni Castro to build houses and relationships in the state of Washington. Dominican has partnered with Yakima Valley Habitat for Humanity since 2012. For the past 18 months, Anita Hin, Monica Fernandez and Chelsea Prado met with first responders and focus groups and coded and analyzed data from fall incident reports. They also worked with an evaluation consultant who was hired by the Novato Fire Department supported by a grant through the County of Marin Mental Health Services Act to look at the link between depression and falls. Falls are the number one call that firefighters respond to, and the numbers are expected to rise with an increase in the elderly population.

Integrated Adaptive Skills Program Model (IASP) is designed to offer supportive services to disabled students seeking to integrate into a local after-school program. IASP Model focuses on teaching adaptive skills to disabled students that would prepare them to be fully included into an after-school program with their same age peers. The program offers support, training, and consultation to the students and staff involved in the program. "Here Your Ambitions Are Illusions": Boundaries Of Integration And Ethnicity Among Ecuadorian Immigrant Teenagers In Madrid, Jennifer Lucko

This study analyzes the relationship between a discourse of integration in the European Union and the ways in which the ethnic boundaries of segregated social groups of immigrant children are conceptualized in one working-class and immigrant neighborhood in Madrid, Spain. I use qualitative data gathered during sixteen months of ethnographic fieldwork among Ecuadorian immigrant teenagers to explore the unintended consequences of European efforts to promote the integration of immigrants in member states. The mission of the Service-Learning (SL) Program is to centralize resources and support for faculty, students, partner organizations and the diverse communities they serve to advance education and social justice through shared learning and collaborative action. The SL Program seeks to manifest the Dominican ideals and mission to educate ethical leaders and socially responsible global citizens through the creation of intentional, collaborative, mutually beneficial partnerships and relevant teaching/learning practices. Special education students’ needs are not consistently being met in special education programs. This qualitative single case study explored special education programs based on a county education program serving multiple school districts in Northern California. The qualitative approach was selected to explore and identify potential themes in special education programs affecting special education students’ needs not being met consistently. There were 14 themes found in this study, which appeared to be potential barriers impacting students’ needs from being met consistently. Rarely has the appearance of a new textbook been the cause of such delight as broke out amongst the First Year Experience faculty at Dominican University of California in August 2013. The book that triggered such reaction is a seemingly unassuming volume, Big History: Between Nothing and Everything (2013), written by historians David Christian, Cynthia Stokes Brown, and Craig Benjamin, and published by McGraw-Hill.
