Pianist Kevin Kenner Performs In Guest Concert Series, Sarah Gardner, Dave Albee

Hailed as “one of the finest American pianists to come along in years” by the Chicago Tribune, Kenner has appeared around the world as a soloist with leading orchestras and as a recitalist in major halls. He has won the top prizes in the most prestigious competitions: Tchaikovsky International Competition, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the International Chopin Piano Competition, in which he served as a juror in 2010.

Fonteneau, professor of Cello at the Conservatory of Music, performied on stage with pianist June Choi Oh, Chair of Dominican’s Department of Music, Dance and Performing Arts. The program, which capped Family Weekend 2014 at Dominican, featured Beethoven's Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 1 in F Major, Op. 5, No. 1; Grieg's Sonata for Cello and Piano F Minor, Op. 36 and Prokofiev's Sonata for Cello and Piano in C Major, Op. 119.

Sponsored by the American College Dance Festival Association, the event showcased dances selected by the adjudicators from each of the regional conferences based on their outstanding artistic excellence and merit, according to its website. The primary objective of the National Festival is to highlight, on a national level, the outstanding quality of choreography and performances being created in campus programs such as Dominican’s BFA in Dance, which has been selected three times to the National Festival.

There are now 45 students from 18 states and the District of Columbia enrolled in Dominican's four-year BFA program. They are bussed almost every day from campus, across the Golden Gate Bridge, to the LINES studios in San Francisco then bussed back to campus to attend their college classes.

The two BFA in Dance students are now preparing for the BFA Senior Showcase at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco on Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. followed by the BFA Spring Showcase on Friday, April 25, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 26, at 3 p.m. in Angelico Hall
