A Student Perspective On The Use Of Team-Based Assessment To Achieve The Requirement To Be Creative: A Study Of Entrepreneurship Studies, Carmen Tideswell

This study reports the findings of a qualitative research project conducted with a group of university students studying entrepreneurship to explore how they perceived a team-based approach to assessment assisted their ability to generate a creative new venture proposal idea. Through the submission of written journals and analysis of these transcripts, it is evident that although initially the group-work approach was perceived with some degree of cynicism by students, upon completion of the task several advantages of working in groups were reported by students. In 2007 the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) was commissioned to supply advice to the NSW Department of Education and Training on literacy assessment instruments suitable for students at the commencement of Year K, for use in the Best start initiative. This report outlines: the modifications made to the literacy assessments developed for the ACER Longitudinal Literacy and Numeracy Study (LLANS) to make it suitable; the testing of the literacy assessment in a sample of kindergartens in New South Wales; analysis of student results; and recommendations.

Developing learning resources forms an important part of a school mathematics curriculum implementation. This chapter argues for a change in the way we do analysis for developing learning resources. An argument is forwarded for an undertstanding of the main concepts within the topic as well as a historical and didactical analysis thereof in order to make statements with respect to the teaching and learning of the topic. This report analyses the course experience perceptions of those graduates who completed the requirements for a coursework degree from an Australian higher education institution in 2006 and who responded to the 2007 Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ). It is the fifteenth report in a series that began in 1993 but it may also be considered to be the sixth in a new series of reports on the expanded CEQ because the structure of the questionnaire since 2002 differs considerably from earlier versions.
