The need for and delivery of programs in our public schools to educate elementary students K-3 about Exceptional children was studied. An Instructional packet of ideas, resources, and activities was presented that could be used in an elementary classroom K-3, to help children overcome negative attitudes toward the handicapped and to recognize the rights of the handicapped individual to pursue a normal life.

State and federal education of the handicapped legislation provides numerous safeguards to ensure appropriate educational opportunity. Parents are expected to be active participants. Schools are obligated to inform parents of their responsibilities, rights and procedures to be followed. The disclosure is lengthy and complicated. To simplify this process five brochures were prepared each to deal with a discrete step or process. The brochures are to be distributed at appropriate times and in conjunction with the full disclosure required by law.

Purpose. This study was designed to investigate the effects of a special remedial program on the intellectual, academic, and behavioral functioning of underachieving, culturally disadvantaged, mentally gifted minors. The study also concerned itself with student school attendance and parent attendance at parent-teacher conferences. Variables. The selected variables for this study were IQ, academic achievement, student behavior, student attendance, and parent attendance at teacher conferences. IQ was measured with the Stanford-Binet LM intelligence test. The educational establishment is now reflecting the concerns of womanhood. Grudgingly, and even painfully, it seems to some, the large and complicated system of formal education acknowledges the existence of practices which are sexist both in conception and operation. At one level this sexism is directed, at many levels of awareness, toward the functionaries of the system. The economic oppression of teachers, who are mostly female, is an obvious expression of the phenomenon. Another benchmark is the limited career development opportunities available to women as educational managers and academics.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to survey ·learning disability students and students in special day classes and to compare them on select characteristics to each other and to children attending regular day classes.

VARIABLES: The selected variables. for this study were creativity, locus of control, and academic achievement.
