The Relationship Among Selected Variables Influencing Decision Making In The Roles Of Public Community College Academic Deans, Sylvan Alphonso Lashley Jan 1981

The Relationship Among Selected Variables Influencing Decision Making In The Roles Of Public Community College Academic Deans, Sylvan Alphonso Lashley

Dissertations

Problem. Much descriptive research has been undertaken on the academic dean's role which has been determined by the perceptions of significant others.

Since the dean has had several categories of prescribed roles, scholars have tended to emphasize these roles and approach administrator-preparation from a prescriptive basis. This approach, though useful, ignores a crucial dimension--the variables, forces, or stimuli that impinge upon and influence the dean in his/her decision-making areas.

Assisting The Re-Entry Woman: The Role Of The Community College, Shirley Jean Nettnin Jan 1978

Assisting The Re-Entry Woman: The Role Of The Community College, Shirley Jean Nettnin

Masters Theses

The woman who wishes to re-enter the worlds of work and education can be effectively assisted by the community college. The open admissions policies and the availability of counseling for community members make the two year college systems unique. They provide access to in-house opportunities in both academic and job oriented areas. Women appear to view them as being less threatening than a four year institution, while retaining the prestige of college.

Women who wish to alter their life-style are often apprehensive about beginning. They may be realistic and effective in making decisions within a familiar milieu, but unsure and …

A Follow-Up Study Of The Office Administration Cooperative Work Experience Enrollees At Big Bend Community College For The School Years 1964-65 To 1967-68, Mary Margaret Liebermann

All Master's Theses

Cooperative Work Programs of many types exist at different educational levels in the United States. Specifically, the Cooperative Work Programs in Office Administration have undergone a rapid increase in this country over the last decade. The national expansion of the two-year college system has added greatly to this growth as has the passage of the Vocational Act of 1963 and the Amendments of the Act in 1968. However, the lack of studies regarding the effectiveness of these programs, particularly at the two-year college level, indicates that an information and measurement gap exists in cooperative program information. Both college administrators and …
