This study aimed to translate and standardize the Compulsive Hoarding Disorder Scale and the Dark Future Scale for use in the Arabic framework, as well as to estimate the prevalence of hoarding behaviors. The study also assessed the effects of age, social status, and educational level on hoarding and dark future tendencies, in addition to exploring the relationships among these variables. The study aimed to analyze the content of the science curriculum for the third intermediate grade in light of future thinking skills. The two textbooks in the 2025 science curriculum edition consisted of 12 chapters and 28 lessons. The study used a descriptive approach based on content analysis and developed an analytical instrument consisting of 32 indicators that were distributed across six core future thinking skills. These skills included prediction, problem-solving, visualization, anticipation, analysis of future situations, and future foresight. The present study investigates how the variation of speech rate affects the acoustic cues across stop-vowel sequences in Bisha dialect (BD), an Arabic dialect spoken in the southern region of Saudi Arabia. Applying an acoustic approach, the study examines segmental duration (closure and following vowel), fundamental frequency (f0 onset), and voice quality (H1-H2 onset) on target stops taken from a sample of thirty native speakers of BD. The acoustic measures are evaluated using linear mixed-effects and logistic regression models. The current research aimed to determine the extent of the "University Life Skills" course content's contribution to enhancing academic adjustment and self-confidence among students at the University of Hail. It utilized the Analytical Descriptive Method to achieve this objective. The research sample consists of (204) students enrolled in the course from six diverse colleges. The research results consistently confirmed that the course's contribution to both enhancing academic adjustment and developing self-confidence was perceived as high (mean scores: 2.57 and 2.60, respectively). Servingness On The Sidelines: Latina/O/X Athletic Administrators At Division I Hispanic-Serving Institutions, Guillermo Ortega

Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics

This qualitative study examines how servingness is understood and enacted within NCAA Division I athletic departments at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Guided by Garcia et al.’s multidimensional servingness framework, the study draws on interviews with ten NCAA Division I Latina/o/x athletic administrators. Findings reveal that athletics is frequently disconnected from institutional HSI missions, with servingness often reduced to symbolic or performative practices. Limited Latina/o/x representation in athletic departments further constrains institutional capacity to serve. Despite structural exclusion, participants cultivate servingness through cultural affirmation and community building. Implications highlight the need to structurally integrate athletics into HSI missions and redistribute cultural labor.

In education scholarship, authors have increasingly called to center queer joy to disrupt the conventional deficit model that normally accompanies queer communities. However, in this paper, I argue that an exclusive emphasis on joy may risk instituting and normalizing a happiness duty that marginalizes negative affects and subjects. I propose queer grief not as an opposite, but as a constitutive shadow of joy. Drawing on theories of queer, trans, and crip negativity and the studies on loss, grief, and mourning, I critique the imperative to mobilize affect solely for future utility and teleological meaning. Translating literary works addressing sensitive issues such as domestic violence (DV) and psychological trauma requires careful strategies to preserve meaning, emotional nuances, and pragmatic effects in the target language. This study examines translation techniques, levels of meaning equivalence, and relevance in dialogues concerning domestic violence and personal trauma in Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us and its Indonesian translation, Akhir Antara Kita. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, 451 dialogue segments were analyzed using the frameworks of Molina and Hurtado Albir (2002), Baker (1992), and Gutt (2010). This study examines the Perang Ketupat tradition in Tempilang Village, Bangka Belitung Province, Indonesia, as a form of cultural performance. It aims to analyze the tradition through five dimensions: ritual, performing arts, community participation, cultural education, and community-based safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage (ICH). Employing a qualitative approach based on performance ethnography, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and a literature review during the 2024 Ketupat War Festival. This review discusses the tv show Pluribus as a contemporary television narrative that functions as an allegory for artificial intelligence and its implications for human meaning-making. Centering on Carol Sturka, one of thirteen individuals immune to a alien global virus that merges humanity into a cooperative “Hive Mind”, the series explores tensions between autonomy and collective well-being in a “peaceful apocalypse.” The analysis argues that the Hive Mind reflects key concerns surrounding AI, including the production of knowledge without understanding, personalization without discernment, and efficiency that bypasses the struggle through which meaning is formed. This study examines enrolment trends in French electives at University of Botswana (UB) to assess cross-disciplinary relevance, sustained student engagement, and implications for curriculum development and institutional internationalisation. Using a descriptive-analytical design, the study analysed institutional enrolment data from six consecutive semesters. Data were disaggregated by faculty and analysed using SPSS, guided by Student-Centred Curriculum theory and Interdisciplinary Learning principles. A total of 1,200 enrolments were recorded. The Faculty of Business accounted for the highest participation (48.6%), followed by Humanities (20.8%) and Social Sciences (14.9%). Javanese traditional drama (wayang) is a key element of Indonesia's cultural heritage, yet classroom instruction remains largely text-based and low in engagement. This study developed and evaluated Wayang 3D, a cloud-based interactive e-book integrating Canva, Heyzine, and H5P to support traditional-drama learning. Using the ADDIE model, the product was validated by content and media experts and tested through a quasi-experimental nonequivalent pretest–posttest control-group design with 62 ninth-grade students. Students entering middle school encounter many changes in how music is taught and organized. During this transition, music students are introduced to a greater emphasis on ensemble performance. These students enter middle school with diverse backgrounds in musical training and knowledge. Additional factors affecting students’ musical development include funding, socioeconomic background, and demographics. Elementary music scheduling and program vertical alignment may also influence students’ preparedness as they enter middle school. This study investigated the structural predictability trajectories within the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) graded piano framework. Utilizing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the project analyzed a longitudinal dataset (N = 449) to investigate variance in student achievement and the emergence of developmental plateaus, conceptually identified as the “Reading Wall.” Quantitative modeling revealed distinct structural divergences within the syllabus architecture: the traditional Practical Grades maintained a stable correlational signal between technical components and outcomes (r = .826 at Grade 7), whereas the digital Performance Grades yielded a non-significant association (p = .355). This phenomenological study examined the lived experiences of middle school music educators (MSMEs) in Georgia to understand how burnout, professional isolation, support, and advocacy influence their professional experiences and sustainability. These educators navigate instructional tasks, program administration, and responsibilities beyond the classroom. 10 MSMEs, including 5 band directors, 3 orchestra directors, and 2 chorus directors, participated in virtual semi-structured interviews. Abstract. Maya, an Indigenous language spoken primarily in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, remains under-resourced in materials for second-language and heritage-language learners. Its agglutinative morphology, split ergativity, and aspect system pose particular pedagogical challenges, especially when Maya grammar is explained through Spanish or English tense categories. Based on a critical review of existing teaching resources and the author’s more than twenty years of experience teaching Maya, this article proposes a pedagogical framework for understanding its aspect grammar. Rather than organizing verbal morphology around tense, the framework distinguishes four principal conjugational forms: Ongoing Incomplete, Simple Past, Completed Present, and Subjunctive. The Brandon School was established in the East Florence industrial area of Florence, Alabama in 1893 as Florence's Sixth Ward School. Due to lack of funds, the school was closed before being reopened by Charles Brandon, a proponent of educational efforts among the children of factory workers of the Cherry Cotton Mill.
