This study explores the similarities and differences among Argentinean and Colombian employees regarding their perceptions of effective and ineffective managerial and leadership behavior by conducting a qualitative multiple cross-case and cross nation comparative analysis of findings from two previous emic replication studies. The findings of this study suggest more similarities than differences in the perceptions of Argentinean and Colombian workers about effective/ineffective managerial and leadership behaviors and highlight important nuances. Although there are cultural differences among Argentineans and Colombians, the findings of this study suggest that culture may not play a substantial role in the perception of managerial behavioral effectiveness. …

The institutional theory suggests that multinational enterprises (MNEs) need to conform to institutional norms to gain legitimacy, thereby enhancing their survival in host countries. Conversely, from the perspective of business strategy, MNEs gain a competitive advantage by leveraging organizational capabilities worldwide. These two perspectives imply that MNEs face conflicting pressures when adopting HRM practices in their host country subsidiaries. Efforts to accelerate Alzheimer's disease (AD) drug development have been spurred on by the creation of open science, public-private R&D consortia. An R&D consortium provides an improved structure for generating and disseminating AD knowledge across a range of organizations while also aligning their interests. Drawing from archival and interview data collected on 46 public-private R&D consortia focused wholly or in part on AD, we uncover two important innovations: the creation of novel consortium types that facilitate coordination beyond the individual consortium, and the practice of organizations joining multiple consortia. Notably, its current influence transcends the strictly inspirational and religious aspects, constituting also a socio-economic, cultural, historical, heritage and tourism cornerstone. This paper analyses, from an innovative bibliometric perspective, the influence of the Camino de Santiago on the academic literature in the period from 1980 to the present. Social and economic information is limited for coastal commercial and recreational fisheries, particularly shark fisheries, which are perceived as unsustainable and as targeting sharks for fins.

Aims

To characterise the social and economic dimensions of one of the world’s few long-standing sustainable shark fisheries.

We reviewed historic data and surveyed stakeholders to understand the economic and social dimensions of the shark fishery currently operating in Western Australia.

Like a well-designed procurement strategy, a well-designed rolling stock strategy promotes the development of a railroad company and contributes to its competitive advantage. Effective implementation of the rolling stock strategy enhances the likelihood of enjoying the benefits of the strategy’s design. A successful implementation relies on the strategy being known, understood, controlled and communicated to the entire organization.

The study of residents’ perceptions and attitudes towards tourism has received considerable interest over the years. While much agreement has been found, there are also several areas of disagreement and noteworthy gaps that affect our understanding of residents’ attitudes toward tourism. This discussion reviews some of the existing findings of past studies, before considering some of the significant gaps. These include the dominance of social exchange theory (SET) as the principal model, the lack of distinction between tourists and tourism, and the impact of tourist typologies on perceptions of tourism.

This study assesses how sustainable tourism management is implemented in selected Philippine Marian Shrines, managed by religious congregations. In conducting the study, the researchers used a qualitative case study approach, as the data were collected using Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The study’s key informants (n=27) are the stakeholders of the two selected study sites. These include the congregation, staff members, tourism-related business owners, Barangay government representatives, local police officers, and local tourism representatives. Artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to revolutionize the construction industry, yet the pivotal role of leaders’ attitudes in its successful adoption is undeniable. This study explores these attitudes' potential positive psychological drivers, leveraging the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Innovation Resistance Theory (IRT) to dissect the complex interplay of factors influencing AI adoption. We hypothesize that Psychological Capital (PsyCap’s) plays a role in shaping leaders' positive and negative attitudes toward AI. Results show that PsyCap was a significant driver of both positive and negative attitudes. Global herbicide-resistant weed populations continue rising due to selection pressures exerted by herbicides. Despite this, herbicides continue to be farmers’ preferred weed-control method due to cost and efficiency relative to physical or biological methods. However, weeds developing resistance to herbicides not only challenges crop production but also threatens ecosystem services by disrupting biodiversity, reducing soil health, and impacting water quality. While there is a developing consensus that governments need to address systemic racism, public administration scholarship has not played a large role in supporting policymakers who want to achieve that end. To institutionalize that effort, we analyze the budget process as a setting to identify inequities and incorporate social equity given its overarching reach across all programs and policies. This article uses the tenets of critical race theory to illustrate how to use the budget process to incorporate equity.
