JOHNSON CITY – When it comes to the universities graduating students with the least amount of debt, East Tennessee State University is now nationally ranked.

This month, U.S. News & World Report released its 2022-2023 report, a sweeping summary on a range of data from 1,500 colleges across the United States.

ETSU is ranked in the top 100 in the “least debt” category, running ahead of several universities in Tennessee and the Appalachian Highlands. That puts ETSU in the top 10% in the nation, per the rankings.

Officials at East Tennessee State University received a glowing report card for the university today, with leaders announcing that new student enrollment, graduation rates and employee satisfaction are all at historic highs.

During a quarterly meeting of the university's Board of Trustees, ETSU administrators shared final enrollment numbers for the fall 2022 semester. The university is celebrating its largest incoming class in a decade at 2,056 students — a 25% increase in the past two years. Overall enrollment increased by 195 students over last year, with total headcount enrollment, including undergraduate, graduate, pharmacy and medical students, reaching 13,738. The university's …

JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University’s ROTC Program, a unit assigned to ETSU for more than half a century that has commissioned over 1,500 second lieutenants, is inducting new members into its Hall of Fame. 

The Hall of Fame class of 2022, all decorated veterans, will be honored in a ceremony scheduled for Friday, Oct. 21, at 4 p.m. in the Grand Soldiers Ballroom at the Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City. The event is free and open to the public.

JOHNSON CITY – The U.S. Department of Education has announced that East Tennessee State University will receive the federally funded Student Support Services STEM and Health Sciences grant, a competitive award worth more than $1.3 million over the next five years. 

The grant supports an additional 120 students pursuing degrees in a variety of fields, from allied health to surveying.

JOHNSON CITY – Expect a “spectacular showing” from fall foliage in the Appalachian Highlands this year. 

That’s the prediction from East Tennessee State University’s Travis Watson.

The labor-intensive structure, 24/7 service availability, diversity of departments including kitchens, housekeeping, and technical services, the high labor turnover ratios, along with the long working hours and shift systems inherent in accommodation establishments all play a role in the occurrence of occupational accidents (OA). Fundamental reasons underlying OA are unsafe behavior and unsafe working conditions. Effective personnel management policies in the United States Air Force (USAF) require methods to predict the number of personnel who will remain in the USAF as well as to replenish personnel with different skillsets over time as they depart. To improve retention predictions, we develop and test traditional random forest models and feedforward neural networks as well as partially autoregressive forms of both, outperforming the benchmark on a test dataset by 62.8% and 34.8% for the neural network and the partially autoregressive neural network, respectively. Corporate net zero climate commitments and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies have the potential to bypass barriers to international, national, and subnational government action on climate change and other environmental issues. This Article presents the results of a new empirical study that demonstrates the remarkably widespread use of environmental supply chain contracting requirements. The study finds that roughly 80% of the ten largest firms in seven global sectors include environmental requirements in supply chain contracting, a substantial increase over the 50% reported by a comparable study fifteen years ago. Trauma-informed yoga (TIY) is suggested to improve psychiatric symptoms and shown feasible and acceptable in emerging research, yet no work has evaluated TIY in MST survivors. The current quality improvement project aimed to examine TIY’s feasibility, acceptability, and perceived effects in the context of MST.”
