The university’s College of Business was first accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) in spring 2016. Five undergraduate programs and one graduate program in Accounting were accredited; an undergraduate program in Economics was excluded from AACSB review. تهدف الدراسة إلى قياس مدى تأثيرا مؤشرات سوق العراق للأوراق المالية في الاستثمار الاجنبي المباشر , بناءً على الفرضية التي تفيد بوجود علاقة ارتباط وتأثير إيجابية ومعنوية بين مؤشرات سوق العراق للأوراق المالية والاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر, وقد بيّنت هذه الدراسة أثر العلاقة باستخدام الأسلوب الوصفي لعرض مفاهيم المتغيرات, بالإضافة إلى الأسلوب القياسي باستخدام معادلة الانحدار الخطي حيث تم تقديرها بطريقة المربعات الصغرى العادية, وتوصلت نتائج الاختبار القياسي إلى وجود علاقة طردية معنوية بين الاستثمار الاجنبي وبعض مؤشرات سوق العراق الأوراق المالية وهي مؤشرات (عدد الأسهم المتداولة، حجم التداول، القيمة السوقية ,مؤشر الأسعار، عدد الشركات المتداولة)، مقابل عدم معنوية النماذج المتبقية.

Payment-timing is conceptualized as a payment instrument focal characteristic to explain differences in consumers’ purchasing behavior when they chose to pay-now versus pay-later. Payment-timing preferences represent consumers’ attitudes, beliefs, and motivation for delaying marketing transactions. Cash, debit cards, and online banking represented consumers’ preferences to pay-now, while credit cards and loans represented the inclination to pay-later.

There were two key findings: Firstly, I present payment-timing models that theorize consumers’ choice of payment types with differences in payment-timing and motivations to pay for purchases. We investigate masked financial instability caused by wealth inequality. When an economic sector is decomposed into two subsectors that possess a severe wealth inequality, the sector in entirety can look financially stable while the two subsectors possess extreme financially instabilities of opposite nature, one from excessive equity, the other from lack thereof. The unstable subsector can result in further financial distress and even trigger a financial crisis. The market instability indicator, an early warning system derived from dynamical systems applied to agent-based models, is used to analyze the subsectoral financial instabilities. This qualitative phenomenological study was designed to gain insight into experiences of grit by development officers in higher education as they pursued their goals and processed their disappointments in the course of soliciting major gifts. Three main domains of literature underpinned the research: (a) motivation theory, (b) goal-setting theory, and (c) the grit model. This dissertation contains two essays in corporate Finance. The first essay is on accelerated share repurchases (ASRs) and the second essay is on corporate inversions.

In my first essay, I investigate the use of stock buybacks, specifically accelerated share repurchases, to meet or beat the analysts’ forecasts of EPS. I find that when the companies want to repurchase their stocks in an effort to meet or beat the EPS expectations, they are more likely to choose accelerated share repurchases (ASRs) rather than open market repurchases (OMRs). Interestingly, upon announcements, these EPS motivated ASRs experience strongest market reaction among all the …

We analyze the changes in the composition of bilateral trade—and more specifically, in the new goods margin—following the free trade agreements (FTAs) signed by Korea between 2004 and 2008. We find that new goods trade increased disproportionately after the FTAs came into effect, and that least-traded goods (LTG)—those accounting for the lowest 10% of trade prior to the FTAs—ended up accounting for 37% of post-FTA trade with FTA partners. In contrast, the corresponding share for a comparable group of countries that did not sign FTAs with Korea was only half as large, averaging close to 20%. We also find that …

The surveys were conducted during late 2017 and early 2018. My dissertation consists of two essays on stock exchange switching and the association between discretionary payouts and real investment.

In the first essay, we examine 49 firms that voluntarily switch from the NYSE to Nasdaq for the period from 2000 to 2013 to determine whether the choice between listing on the NYSE versus on Nasdaq matters any more. We find that there is no documentable economic benefits to moving and some costs in the form of lower liquidity. Consistently, there is little evidence of a significant market reaction.
