Towards A Model Of Electronic Word-Of-Mouth And Its Impact On The Hotel Industry, Edwin N. Torres, Dipendra Singh
Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
Scholars and practitioners recognize that spreading word-of-mouth can play an important role in the formation of a hotel’s image. However, the relationships among various measures of online customer engagement are relatively unknown. The present study analyzes the relationships and quantifies the impacts of various measures of online engagement including the number of online reviews, overall rating, and relative ranking. The researchers used path analysis on a sample of 178 hotels to study the relationships among relevant variables and build a model to explain the impact of such measures (Figure 2). Federal Home Loan Bank Advances And Bank And Thrift Holding Company Risk: Evidence From The Stock Market, Scott Deacle, Elyas Elyasiani

Using bivariate GARCH models of stock portfolio returns and risk, we find that bank and thrift holding companies that relied the most on Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) advances exhibited less total risk and market risk than those that relied on them the least between 2001 and 2012. When we control for differences in holding company size, stock trading volume, residential mortgage lending, and holding company type (bank vs. thrift), the most FHLB-reliant holding companies sustain the aforesaid risk advantages except during the crisis of 2007–2009, when they exhibit greater idiosyncratic risk. During September, a gap re-emerged between business and consumer confidence in Nebraska. The Consumer Confidence Index – Nebraska (CCI-N) fell to 87.9 during September, from a value of 97.4 in August. A value of 87.9 is well below the neutral value of 100, and indicates weak consumer confidence in Nebraska. By contrast, Nebraska businesses were optimistic, with respondents to the September 2016 Survey of Nebraska Business reporting plans to expand sales and employment. Thirty-one percent of businesses expect sales to rise over the next 6 months, while just 19 percent expect sales to fall. Thirteen percent of businesses expect to …

Accenture, through its Corporate Citizenship Program, provided consulting services to Alvis, a nonprofit agency whose programs include workforce development services for individuals with criminal justice involvement. Employment is important for justice-involved individuals, yet they face a variety of barriers, such as the stigma of having a record, low levels of education and skills achievement, lack of transportation, time out of the workforce, etc. This project's purpose was to develop a demand-led skilling and employment plan to provide more opportunities to Alvis' 7,000+ annual clients by strengthening and enhancing Alvis' workforce development services. In order to enhance student experiential learning, Franklin University's Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics continued its third year efforts in participating in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in 2016, in conjunction with United Way's Tax Time Coalition of Central Ohio and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The VITA program prepares free federal and state tax returns for low to moderate income taxpayers in the central Ohio community. The combination of stress types, acute, episodic, chronic, and traumatic stress, without stress management practices can greatly affect the employee and organization. While some occupational stress is normal, when stress becomes overwhelming it takes a toll on productivity, job satisfaction, and leads to feelings of anxiety, irritableness and depression (Knauss & Ravi, 2009).
