The purpose of this Article is to examine the corporate governance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the Asian context by empirically surveying the influence of Temasek Holdings, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, on its portfolio of government-linked companies in Singapore. Overall, the Temasek model seems to be a promising one. This Article shows that the top listed government-linked companies in which Temasek has a stake have greater board independence than the other top listed companies in Singapore. This illustrates that a high quality of corporate governance could be aligned with public interests associated with SOEs. While this research offers hope for …

Online businesses influence consumer behaviour by means of a wide range of technologies that determine what information is displayed as well as how and when it is displayed. This creates an unprecedented power imbalance between the transacting parties, raising questions not only about the permissible levels of procedural exploitation in contract law, together with the adequacy of existing consumer protections but also about the impact of technology on consumer autonomy. Since China became a net oil importer in 1993, oil refineries have played integral roles in China's quest for oil security. And yet, the capacity, security, and configurations of refineries were rarely featured in the discussions about China's oil policy. To fill this gap, this paper explains the basics of refinery economics and technology, and details the development in China's refining industry since the early 1990s. By taking refineries into consideration, it then revisits and reassesses the existing literature regarding the motives and drivers behind China's foreign oil policy, its effectiveness, and the political interactions between China and crude oil …

BE Well is a Wellness and Fitness program designed to be implemented in a fictitious company for the Administrative Communication course at Stephen F. Austin State University.

A team of three employees from the organization, Biss Enterprises, was asked to develop the program by the CEO of the company. The team researched and explored different options to create a wellness and fitness program suitable for all the employees in the company.

Financial Innovation, Investor Behavior, And Arbitrage: Implications From The Etf Market, Wenxi Jiang, Hongjun Yan

Regular and levered ETFs are markedly different financial innovations. Regular ETFs improve liquidity: they are more liquid than their underlying stocks. In contrast, although the levered ETF market has a substantially higher turnover, it also has a significantly higher bid-ask spreads and larger price impacts. Our interpretation is that levered ETFs are appealing to short-term levered speculators. The aggregate cost levered ETF investors incur is around 10% of the market capitalization, or around $2 billion, each year. Moreover, regular ETF investors appear to be momentum traders, while levered ETF investors are contrarians: For regular (levered) ETFs, their monthly fund flows …

My project explores which characteristics of NBA teams are significant determinants of average attendance for the 1990-91 to 2014-15 seasons. By determining which variables are significant and the direction and magnitude of their impact on a team’s annual attendance, the results may be used to predict future NBA attendance figures, analyze how different teams can improve attendance and revenues, and determine whether other cities, such as Des Moines, are strong candidates for attracting new NBA teams. In the exploration of which characteristics are most important to determining NBA attendance, data has been collected and sorted by each team by year. …

With the continual economic growth of China, the importance of Chinese foreign direct investment and where this investment is directed grows as well. There has been research within the last decade looking into the significance of strategic-asset-seeking (SAS) when determining the factors of Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI). SAS is classified as foreign direct investment that targets technology, patents, stocks, and human capital. Numerous studies have found differing results when measuring the significance of SAS in determining FDI.
