Supervisor’S Engagement And Organization Outcomes: The Mediating Role Of Employee Engagement On Task Performance And Organizational Citizenship Behavior, Romell Thomas

Human Resource Development Theses and Dissertations

Researchers have found that several positive outcomes exist when employees are in a state of engagement. Studies also show that supervisor engagement positively affects employee engagement. This study was conducted to examine how the positive affect of employee engagement as a result of supervisor engagement affects the organization outcomes of task performance and organization citizenship behavior. The researcher proposed a model of these relationships for the study.

The quantitative, cross-sectional study involved a survey to collect the 313 responses used for data analysis. Structural Equation Modeling was used to test the hypotheses. All hypotheses were supported, indicating support for the …

Customer And Employee Incivility And Its Causal Effects In The Hospitality Industry, Edwin N. Torres, Mathilda Van Niekerk, Marissa Orlowski

Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

The present research sought to understand customer and employee incivility in the hospitality industry. The study identified customer actions that are perceived as uncivil by employees and coping strategies used by employees after experiencing uncivil behavior. Finally, service-recovery situations are differentiated from security-related incidents and guidance is offered to hospitality managers regarding the minimization of customer incivility. An empirical survey was distributed to 297 hotel employees. Regression analysis indicated that the effects of customer incivility were an increase in: customer aggression, employee negative emotions, employee-to-customer incivility, employee-to-employee incivility, and employee sensitivity to uncivil acts. Celebrating Scholarship & Creativity Day (2011-2017)

In 2010 student loans became the second largest portion of US debt. Today, the estimated total is 1.4 trillion. Over the last decade the average debt per student has increased 56%, which is double the inflation rate for that period. The graduating class of 2014 left college with an average of about $29,000 of debt. Lastly, the number of federal borrowers today is 7.5 million and growing. This presentation examines how student debt affects students’ spending choices after college and what has changed in these patterns over the last decade.
