This study examines the websites of two religious organizations representing opposing sides of the religious response toward environmentalism and climate change. This research seeks to understand how each side communicates with followers. Using rhetorical framing analysis, it is shown the religious right advocates a dominion stance and uses a romance genre filled with stories, contrast, spin, appeals to logic, and rhetoric of hope and fear. The religious left advocates a stewardship stance and uses a romance genre filled with stories, appeals to logic, and rhetoric of hope. Big Sky Documentary Film Festival 2016, Megan Tanner Schultz

Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research Publications

This study was conducted for the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival to provide insight into the characteristics of attendees of the 2016 annual festival in Missoula, MT. Paper surveys were completed by 288 attendees at the event and another 146 email surveys were completed by attendees after the event concluded. Results show that 83% of respondents were residents of Montana and of those Montana residents, 88% were from Missoula County. Out-of-county respondents spent an average of 5.25 nights in Missoula and more people spent money on restaurant/bar, hotel/motel/b&b purchases, and retail while visiting the area than any other spending categories. …

The use of embedded marketing, the practice of seamlessly integrating advertising messages into entertainment vehicles, continues to grow as media consumption shifts to on-demand forms, and reaching audiences with traditional advertising becomes more challenging. This dissertation investigates cause placement, the term proposed for the social marketing equivalent of product placement, the more widely known form of embedded marketing. Cause placement is the promotion of pro-social causes by verbally and/or visually inserting related elements into entertainment programming. This paper features an analysis of the effectiveness of a range of portfolio diversification strategies, with a focus on down-side risk metrics, as a portfolio diversification strategy in a European market context. We apply these measures to a set of daily arithmetically-compounded returns, in U.S. dollar terms, on a set of ten market indices representing the major European markets for a nine-year period from the beginning of 2005 to the end of 2013. Engaging today’s issues in higher education requires strong analytical tools that can address the complex nature of our institutional systems and their involved actors. This paper forwards a critical race institutional logics perspective (CRILP). Virtual computer laboratories have been an excellent technological solution to the problem of providing students with hands-on experimentation in information technology fields such as information security in a cost effective and secure manner. A virtual computer laboratory was utilized in this work as a collaborative environment for student learning with the goal of measuring its effect on student learning and attitudes toward laboratory assignments. Experiments were carried out utilizing specially-designed computer-based laboratory activities that included student assessments and surveys upon their completion. In general, I believe that integration is advisable as a way of addressing the biases of the classical system against using the corporate form, in favor of retaining earnings, and in favor of debt financing.

In terms of the bias against the corporate form, dividend deduction is as good as dividend exemption or imputation. In all three cases, there is only one level of tax imposed, at the shareholder level for dividend deduction or imputation, and at the corporate level for dividend exemption. Parents are real beneficiaries of school services. Their involvement in school based activities has changed the role breadth of teachers. Schools can handle this parental involvement through the extra-role behaviors of teachers. These beyond the job behaviors or organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) of teachers are crucial for the schools. This study found that firms run by CEOs who have served in the military have lower investment and Research and Development (R&D) expenditures. In practice, firms and organizations should consider hiring chief executive officers (CEOs) with military experience if they are looking for “change agents” who will create an ethical, effective, and team-oriented organizational culture. The African Journal of Information Systems

This paper investigates the impact of mobile technology on Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in the developing world in the post-hyperinflation era. Data was collected from a multi-staged sample of 114 MSE owners within the capital province of Zimbabwe, namely Harare. The data was collected and analysed using descriptive quantitative survey methods, which comprised of hard-copy questionnaires, structured interviews and online questionnaires.

The findings suggest that mobile technology has incremental, transformational and production influence on MSEs in Zimbabwe. The findings show that mobile technology amplifies communication and relations with customers, MSE’s productivity and MSE’s revenues. Mobile technology is also spurring …
