In Spring of 2014 I took the opportunity to go on a Go Global trip with the Huntsman School of Business to London. In preparation, I applied and received an Opportunity Scholarship from the Huntsman School. This financial aid made a great difference in my ability to afford the Go Global trip. My scholarship covered half of my program's expenses and gave me the financial security to fully enjoy my global experience without the overwhelming stress of making ends meet. This experience was one that changed my life and opened my eyes to the possibilities of global business.

On Sport and Society
There are many terrific and zany baseball quotations that make there way across the nation at this time of year. Between Dizzy Dean, Yogi Berra, and Phil Rizzuto almost all aspects of the game were covered. Broadcasters too have added to the diamond lexicon. My favorite, however, comes from the former pitcher for the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals, the incomparable Joaquin Andujar whose most memorable line covers nearly all of the possibilities of the game.

Does The Adoption Of Ifrs Affect Corporate Social Disclosure In Annual Reports?, Joyce Van Der Van Der Laan Smith, Andrea L. Gouldman, Rasoul H. Tondkar

In this exploratory study we investigate the impact of the implementation of IFRS on corporate social disclosures (CSD) within the context of stakeholder theory. We measure the level of CSD in annual reports using a disclosure instrument based on the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development report “Guidance on Corporate Responsibility Indicators in Annual Reports”. We find that IFRS adoption had a differential effect on CSD based on a firm's institutional setting i.e., the stakeholder–management relationship prevalent in their institutional environment. Data quality has become a large focus of businesses in recent years, as the impact of poor data quality has become more widely recognized. One of the early steps in data quality management is to conduct a maturity assessment. However, it appears that little progress in data quality management has been made in recent years. Implementing a data governance framework can help alleviate data quality maturity issues. Big data presents its own challenges, making data quality management a more difficult task, but big data cannot be addressed until overall data quality is tamed. The African Journal of Information Systems
Many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries continue to be challenged by their information technology (IT) adoption process, which is often characterized by a number of deficiencies. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of absorptive capacity (AC) in SMEs’ performance, as well as establish the correlation between SMEs’ AC and their IT adoption process. The findings of this study, obtained by measuring different dimensions of AC using Jimenez-Barrionuevo, Garcia-Morales, and Molina’s scale of 18 items, suggest that AC plays a critical role in the performance of SMEs in Kenya and that SMEs with strong …

In the current study, the authors report on the application of the design science methodology to construct, utilize, and evaluate a frugal information system that uses mobile devices and cloud computing resources for documenting daily sales transactions of very small enterprises (VSEs). Small enterprises play significant roles in the socioeconomic landscape of a community by providing employment opportunities and contributing to the gross domestic product. However, VSEs have very little access to innovative information technologies that could help them manage their challenges that are restricting their effective growth, sustainability, and participation in a knowledge economy.
