Functional Space Management In The Hospitality Industry And Its Future Outlook, Katherine Dail
Functional Space Management In The Hospitality Industry And Its Future Outlook, Katherine Dail
Senior Theses
In recent years, profit made from ancillary revenues has become more vital to the success of service companies. This phenomenon is very pronounced in the airline industry, but is also beginning to become more relevant to hotels as it is applied to functional space and meetings. Most of these ancillary revenues, including meetings, are typically not considered an important source of revenue for hotels, but rather as tools to draw in primary activities. This thesis seeks to delve into the importance of the meetings industry to the economy and to the hospitality industry by considering underutilized functional space and customer …

The level of debate and public discourse on economic issues in Pakistan follows a binary path. For example, you can either be a supporter of privatisation or an opponent. There are no other alternatives. This kind of discourse is not helpful and what is required instead is a more analytical and pragmatic approach.
The state has three distinct roles to play in the area of business. First, it can own the businesses. Second, it has to formulate and implement a public policy that impacts on the formation, survival and expansion of businesses. Third, it has to act as the regulator …

As a musician of large ensembles, I have seen the destruction the harsh sound of a metal mouthpiece cap falling onto the cold, hard floor can do to both the concentration of the members of the rehearsal as well as the mood of the conductor. Many saxophonists and clarinetists keep their mouthpiece caps on the edge of their flimsy music stands because during periods of rest, it is best to preserve the reed with the cap. However, with virtually every rehearsal I partake in, shuffling one’s music and grabbing pencils off the stand results in an accident. Witnessing this interruption …

Determining Forage Intake Of Nursing Calves Grazing Native Sandhills Rangeland, Jennifer A. Walker
Determining Forage Intake Of Nursing Calves Grazing Native Sandhills Rangeland, Jennifer A. Walker
Department of Animal Science: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
Effective management of grazing lands is important for longevity and productivity. Accurate calculations of stocking rates per animal unit will aid in long term sustainability. Calculating stocking rates for cattle can prove challenging for cows and nursing calves. Limited research has been conducted to determine forage intake of the nursing calf pre-weaning. The objective of Trial 1 was to determine nursing calf forage intake over time until weaning. Trial 1 used 8 crossbred cow-calf pairs in experiment 1 and 12 pairs in experiment 2. Pairs were separated into two groups rotating between grazing upland range or housed in individual pens …

Earnings Management Constraints: An Examination Of The Tradeoff Between Accruals-Based Earnings Management And Classification Shifting, John Abernathy, Brooke Beyer, Eric Rapley
Earnings Management Constraints: An Examination Of The Tradeoff Between Accruals-Based Earnings Management And Classification Shifting, John Abernathy, Brooke Beyer, Eric Rapley
Faculty Articles
Prior literature has investigated three forms of earnings management: real earnings management (REM), accruals earnings management (AEM) and classification shifting. Managers make trade-off decisions among these methods based on the costs, constraints and timing of each strategy. This study investigates whether managers use classification shifting when their ability to use other forms of earnings management is constrained. We find that when REM is constrained by poor financial condition, high levels of institutional ownership and low industry market share, managers are more likely to use classification shifting. Further, we find that when AEM is constrained by low accounting system flexibility and …

Ceo Compensation: A Position Paper, Kathleen Sands
MBA Student Scholarship
CEO compensation has been a topic of interest and debate for the past several years. It has been discussed and analyzed in sources such as Fortune Magazine, Businessweek, and a plethora of academic literature. The primary concern is whether or not CEOs are overpaid. Considering the financial performance of a company is the basic determinant of the appropriate compensation for a CEO, many individuals question why most CEOs are paid what seem to be disproportionally high salaries in regards to the financial performance of the firms they lead.

A Decrepit New York: Synthesizing New York’S Infrastructure Problems, Connor Farrell
2014 Student Theses
Coastal living has become a very popular, often fantasized, way of life. This lifestyle is easy, relaxing, and, above all, it soothes the stress. However, mankind’s innate desire to live near America’s oceans, rivers, and other bodies of water have allowed its population to become vulnerable to super storms. Super storms, such as Hurricane Sandy, have become more prevalent over recent years, and America needs to take into account the massive population whom call the East coast home. Focusing in on the New York area, I will be able to show how our thoughtless designs and locations of towns/cities have …

International Conference on Marketing
This paper involves a comparative examination of the country brand personality of Pakistan as perceived by the Pakistanis and that perceived by Non-Pakistanis. The objective is to understand: one, whether there exists a divergence between our self-perception and that of NonPakistanis; two, to understand the difference in perception with reference to the 13 subdimensions of country brand personality noted below; three, to ponder about the possible reasons for the divergence. The scale for measuring country personality was developed by combing four scales that had been developed and used in earlier research publications on brand personality. The scale was based on …

Huntsman alumni Craig Morris and Nate Bradshaw knew that Snap would be a success at first glance. The Snap product was originally invented by Eric Child, whose recent invention Fiber fix was featured on ABC’s Shark Tank, but who did not have the time capacity to fully promote the product. With Child’s permission to promote the product, Morris and Bradshaw teamed up with students Spencer Bailey and Kathryn Young, and launched the following Indiegogo campaign.
