Sales force automation (SFA) technologies are increasingly used to support customer relationship management (CRM) strategies. However, the popular press reports mixed results among companies incorporating SF A. technologies and the previous studies have less interested in relationship quality between sales person and customer as an outcome of SF A. ABSTRACT

Despite efforts by many organisations to redesign their processes, many of them have not succeeded. The main objective of the study was to analyse the extent to which organisational resistance impacts on the implementation of BPR. We used survey methodology using a questionnaire for data collection. Descriptive analysis of factors that cause resistance was conducted and results showed that only 30.4% of BPR in Uganda have been successful. Duration is a measure of the effective maturity of a bond or bond portfolio. A higher duration is indicative of higher price risk, particularly in response to changing rates. Thus, if interest rates rise and bond prices fall, a bond with a higher duration will experience a sharper drop in price. Given the relatively low level of interest rates in the current market, bond investors have moved to lower duration portfolios, as protection against expected increases in rates. This study fuses theories on cultural intelligence, networking activities and adjustment by introducing networking tendencies with different actors in foreign work environments as a case-specific determinant of the impact of cultural intelligence (CQ) on adjustment of Korean expatriates. Specifically, adjustment of expatriates with TCN-leaning support networks and those with HCN-leaning support networks are discussed in relation to factors of CQ, including mental, motivational and behavioral CQ. Results of a study of 107 Korean managers recently repatriated from foreign assignments in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia show significant differences in the influence of CQ dimensions on adjustment for expatriates …

Increased Leverage = Less Risk?, Steven D. Dolvin

All else equal, the use of leverage increases investment risk. But, can it ever have the opposite effect? Investors using the so-called risk parity trade believe the answer is yes. Under this approach, a portfolio is built using equity and debt, but the debt is purchased using leverage. The strategy is based on two key points: (1) equity is more volatile than debt and (2) debt returns are negatively correlated to equity returns. Thus, with leverage, the debt returns are in effect more volatile. When combined, the negative correlation creates a less risky portfolio as the equity and debt returns …

Frontiers in Public Health Services and Systems Research

This commentary asserts the need for research examining the use and efficacy of social media as a tool for meeting public health stakeholders’ information needs. The author points to several potential research questions for the field, situates studies addressing these questions within the PHSSR Research Agenda, and introduces the work of Harris et al. that is included in this issue of Frontiers. The commentary closes with a call for horizontal stakeholder communication that supports evidence-based decision-making.

State, Federal, and private entities produce a myriad of data about the national and state economy. Much of this data, however, is released with a substantial lag of several months up to several years. Much of the data also only reports on segments of the economy, rather than providing an overall measure of economic progress. Yet, there is a clear need for comprehensive and current measures of the economy, and current updates about the economic outlook. The Leading Economic Indicator – Nebraska (LEI-N) rose modestly, by 0.11%, during December 2012. The increase in the LEI-N, which predicts economic growth in the state six months in the future, suggests modest economic growth in Nebraska in mid-2013. Looking at individual components of the LEI-N, two components improved in December. The value of the U.S.dollar fell during December, which may increase export activity over the next six months. There also was a decline in initial unemployment claims during the month that signals an improving labor market. Some may regard this as one of the strangest weeks ever in Sportsworld. Certainly the less than forthcoming appearance by Lance Armstrong with Oprah had some surrealistic qualities. After years, or even decades, of denial, Armstrong told America’s mother-confessor that, yes, he had indulged in all sorts of performance enhancement techniques to win his record seven Tour de France crowns. The fact that he had taken PED’s surprised no one, but the fact that he did a TV confessional- “bless me Oprah for I have sinned”- surprised a lot of people both in and out of the cycling community.

This study explores the perceptions and level of awareness of teachers’ personal values and their influence on the valuation processes of their students in the specific social and cultural context of Pakistan. Within the qualitative paradigm, this study employed the deeply-structured, self-reflection process involving six teachers from three different school sites. The research participants highlighted the morality and ethics, role-modeling, affection and empathy, nation-building, and professional competency as their articulated values. Leadership is an expansive term with many definitions and applications. Over the years, adjectives have been applied in an effort to further define and narrow its scope and application, i.e., transactional, transformational, and servant.
