Small business plays a significant part in the economy of all nations because of its revenue contribution and as a generator of employment. In the Australian context, small businesses account for 85% of all businesses, employ 40% of the total workforce and contribute $75 billion annually to Industry Gross Product. All of these numerical indicators highlight the financial importance of small business, which is also how small business success has traditionally been measured. The results of previous investigation on work values suggest that the contradictory findings in regard to gender differences may be rooted in variations in the underlying structure of the work-values domain. In present study, work values are regarded as (1) evaluative standards relating to work or the work environment by which individuals discern what is right and (2) the importance of preferences at work. The former is operationally defined as ethical work behavior and attitudes toward religious issues at work. Sauces are the common product used by most of the household in Malaysia. Every household usually has at least a bottle of Chilli Sauce or Tomato Ketchup or Oyster Sauce. It is interesting to study the selection criteria of Malaysian households on the purchases of sauces by the demographic (such as gender, ethnicity, age, education, occupation and income) and psychographic characteristics (such as social class and lifestyle). First, it examines sex-role stereotypes resulting from a colonial background, as a cause of wage discrimination. This research was carried out with two primary objectives namely to investigate the relationship between Economic Value Added (EVA) and stock returns and how it compares with conventional accounting measures in explaining stock returns. The results indicate that there is a significant positive relationship between EVA and stock returns. Although the relationship is positive, it is relatively weak. All the accounting performance measures also exhibit a positive relationship with stocks. With regards to the ability of EVA in explaining stock returns, It was better compared to any of the accounting performance measures. The best accounting measure was price earnings ratio. …

The primary objective of this study is to investigate the presence of seasonal variation in stock volatility and trading return across the days of the week and their causal relationship in the Malaysian stock market for period 3 July 1995 to 30 June 2000. The study revealed that there is no strong evidence to indicate the persistent presence of seasonal variation in stock volatility across the days of the week for the entire sample period and the three sub-periods, which correspond with a stable, declining and rising stock market. This study examines the patterns of career advancement and factors affecting an individual's career advancement. Career advancement is measured using occupational mobility and income mobility. The analyses are based on 1702 young school leavers data for whom are available from the "Transition from School to Work" study, which was carried out between 1989 and 1996. It is common to change occupation or employer or both in the early stages of the career. For every two individuals, one of them changes jobs within the seven years studied. This study examines the share prices behaviour surrounding the share repurchases programmes announcements by public listed companies listed on the main board of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in Malaysia. f The sample of this study comprises of 48 companies and the period o study spans from 1 September 1997 to 15 October 2000. The impact of these announcements are determined by examining the market-adjusted abnormal returns and share returns of each company for 60 trading days surrounding the announcement day. This study is motivated by a recent amendment to the Income Tax Act, 1967 as part of the tax reform under the Self-Assessment System. Section 114 (1A) now imposes criminal sanctions against those who are negligent in advising and assisting in income tax returns which result in an understatement of tax liability if they do not exercise reasonable care.
