Economic Impact Of Convention And Meetings To Montana: Methodological Attempts, Rita J. Black, Paul L. Grant
Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research Publications
Outlines the attempt to replicate a study in Montana orginally conducted nationally. The study was not completed because of an inability to obtain cooperation from the conference associations and hotel properties. This report explains the methodology and the difficulties encountered during the study attempt.

How many more times will the courts need to rule before university athletic administrators and presidents finally understand that Title IX really does mean that men's and women's sport must be dealt with on an equal basis? This, in effect, is what has been said for the fifth time by the courts, when The Supreme Court this week refused to hear the appeal by Brown University of a lower court ruling of last November.

Perceptions Of Local Businesses Toward Customers With Physical Disabilities And Mental Retardation, Shannon M. Blackburn
Theses & Honors Papers
The purpose of this study was to determine the overall perceptions held by businesses toward people with physical disabilities and mental retardation. Subjects (SS) were employees of businesses in the Richmond area (N=50). A self-developed questionnaire with 3 parts containing a Likert scale and open-ended questions was used for data collection. One hundred percent of the questionnaires were returned. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Chi-square (X2) was used to test the relationship between business type and promotion of service, emergency plans, and wheelchair accessibility. On Sport and Society
There is a character in Thomas Klise's 1974 novel, The Last Western, whose name is Willie. The young man was born in New Mexico, became a baseball pitcher with a supernatural pitch, and was of multi-racial origin. As he developed his athletic skills he quickly achieved perfection, which vaulted him into the public limelight and super stardom. Shortly the public tired of his perfection, being bored by it. He was cynically manipulated by greedy sports owners and ultimately the public turned on him.

Michigan State Government Employment Sector: Are We In Line With The National Trends?, Thomas Walter Cronkright Ii
Honors Theses
Examines the national trends of employment to make a comparison for Michigan State government employment. Results show that Michigan's public employment trends do not follow national employment trends in a comparable way. Michigan is distinct from the nation for several reasons: a hiring freeze placed on Michigan State Departments, higher levels of union participation and employee pay, and benefits packages that cost more than the Executive Branch of the U.S. government. Thus, either Michigan provides superior benefits or it pays a premium for those benefits. Suggests further research is needed.
