A Company Specific Analysis Of The Capital Budgeting Process As It Pertains To A Zero Emissions Mandate On The American Automobile Industry, Brian M. Woodcock

The rapid growth of the U.S. auto industry in the 20th century has led to a fast-paced society that emphasizes the importance of convenience and time-efficiency. Consequently, the cost of this society has been high levels of emissions, causing pollution to the surrounding environment. General Motors' attempt at a solution to the problem is their introduction of the first electric vehicle known as the EV1. The EV1 has the potential to meet society's transportation demands and to create a more pollution-free environment. On Tuesday, April 15, President Clinton will go to New York and Shea Stadium for ceremonies commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of Jackie Robinson's breaking of the color line in major league baseball. On that date in 1947 Robinson played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in their opening day game against the Boston Braves at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.

Championship games should be close and intense with the players giving every ounce of their energy and coaches struggling to adjust and readjust as the game unfolds. The only flaws in this year's struggle between the Wildcats of Kentucky and Arizona were provided by CBS which continues to be unable to identify its best announcers and commentators, and whose broadcasting crew has grown like kudzu in August.

The Impact Of Downsizing On Logistics Performance And Employees In Shipper Firms, Ronald D. Anderson, Roger E. Jerman, Michael R. Crum
Journal of Transportation Management
Firms that downsize hope to achieve improvements in performance and to avoid adverse impacts on employees. This article compares the changes in logistics performance and logistics employee fulfillment for shippers that have downsized with those that have not. Two major conclusions of this research are: (1) Respondent firms that have downsized perceive that they have substantially improved their logistics performance, but no more so than respondent firms that have not downsized; and (2) Stress, morale, and loyalty have worsened for logistics employees in downsized respondent firms, both in an absolute sense and relative to respondent firms that have not downsized.
