Disruptions and uncertainties pose considerable challenges in supply chain (SC) operations, requiring robust, strategic approaches. This study addresses financial resource allocation between supply chain network (SCN) design and external market investments, explicitly considering budget allocation and sales representative selection for perishable products. We propose a novel axis-shift robust (AxShR) method combined with an enhanced p-robust optimisation framework to manage multiple complex uncertainties. The model introduces a new resilience strategy allowing retailers to transfer products within the SCN, and apply artificial intelligence (AI) via a neural network to predict disruptions by evaluating risk indicators such as supplier location risk, raw material …

Using stakeholder theory, this article introduces a framework to inform decision making with respect to the regulation of on-premise signs. Because signage resides in a broader, shared environment and its regulation largely takes place at the local level of government, it can be considered unique among most other marketing-related communications. On-premise signs are important to individual businesses and the communities in which they are used, but at the same time, they are “out in the world,” cannot be avoided, and may not be relevant to or welcomed by many consumers who are exposed to them. A short, provocative review of Rutger Bregman’s Moral Ambition. I sketch his technocratic utopia—“Rutger-land”—a colder, centralized world where fossil fuels are banned, richer people are taxed into moral compliance, UBI prevails, and the landscape is “tobacco-free, malaria-free, poverty-free, and meat-free… just fields of kale and solar panels.” I argue Bregman’s approach is resolutely top-down—activism, lobbying, and policy over enterprise, churches, and grassroots civic life—misunderstanding how wealth is created and how real change happens. Against this centralized moralism, I make the case for decentralization, subsidiarity, and the quiet, dignified work of civil society.

This paper suggests an extensive inferential method for the Power Pratibha Distribution (PPD) under Unified Hybrid Censoring Schemes (UHCSs), since there is a growing interest in flexible models in both reliability and service operations. This work studies the PPD model using standard Maximum Likelihood Estimation methods and modern Bayesian approaches too. Using a complex architecture, UHCS simulates tests more closely to what is done in practice than by using more basic censoring schemes. Using analysis, the probability and statistical ranges are carefully calculated for the parameters. Tests demonstrate that Bayesian estimation gives better results than many other methods for estimation, …

Unraveling The Scarf: How Dimensions Of The Scarf Model Influence The Relationship Between Workplace Exclusion And Turnover Intentions, Matthew Aplin-Houtz

Workplace exclusion – often subtle and difficult to detect – significantly contributes to employee disengagement and turnover, costing US organizations over $1 trillion annually. This study examines how exclusionary behaviors (EBs) influence turnover intentions (TOIs) through disruption of psychological needs, using Rock’s SCARF model (Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, Fairness) and self-determination theory. A two-wave survey of full-time US employees (N = 277) assessed EB, SCARF-based need satisfaction, and TOI. Partial least squares structural equation modeling revealed that EB significantly undermines all five SCARF domains, but only fairness and status mediated the EB–TOI link. Effects Of Fair Workweek Laws On Labor Market Outcomes, Joseph Pickens, Aaron Sojourner

This paper models fair workweek regulations that require employers to provide employees with (1) schedule predictability via advance notice of their work schedule and premium payments for short-notice changes, and (2) access to hours meaning they must offer open hours to existing employees before hiring new workers. We develop a theoretical model of employers’ responses to these provisions and their implications for employment. Guided by the model, we estimate the effects of recently-adopted fair workweek regulation in New York City’s fast-food sector using a synthetic difference-in-differences design. We find a null employment effect.

This study explored the motivational and affective implications of perceived underqualification, specifically examining how it leads to increased levels of envy and help-seeking behaviors. We predicted that envy and help seeking behaviors would in turn indirectly relate to interpersonal deviance and task performance. We further hypothesized that two psychological resources, hope and self-efficacy, would moderate the relationships between perceived underqualification, envy, and help seeking. We tested our model with a sample of 149 medical school students who were undergoing a clinical rotation as well as their rotation coordinators at a university hospital located in northwestern Turkey. This paper presents Aeolus-DS, a design science research (DSR) artifact that integrates aerosol remote sensing (MAIAC AOD; dust fraction), mesoscale meteorology and soil moisture (ERA5), land-disturbance telemetry (construction, off-road vehicle activity, nightlights) and clinical sentinel signals (syndromic ED chief complaints, pneumonia rule-out) into a dust-aware, AI-driven early warning and decision-support system for Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever). Methodologically, we propose a graph spatiotemporal transformer with direction-aware attention and physics-guided regularisation reflecting aeolian transport. Using a news-based index of geopolitical risk (GPR) and over 62 years of data, we find that GPR has a long-lasting negative impact on leverage. Our result is robust to different model specifications, different proxies for leverage, a battery of robustness tests, and survives after addressing endogeneity concerns. Further, we provide evidence that the effect is channeled through declining shifts in both the demand and supply of credit. Cross-sectional tests indicate that the effect is stronger for firms with higher existing leverage, those with more irreversible investment, and those whose stock returns are more sensitive to GPR. From Disruption To Integration: Cryptocurrency Prices, Financial Fluctuations, And Macroeconomy, Zhengyang Chen

This paper examines cryptocurrency shock transmission to financial markets and the macroeconomy using a Bayesian structural VAR with Pandemic Priors from 2015 to 2024. By affecting overall risk appetite, cryptocurrency price shocks generate positive financial market spillovers, accounting for 18% of equity and 27% of commodity price fluctuations. Real economic effects are significant in driving investment but remain limited, contributing only 4% to unemployment and 6% to industrial production variance. However, cryptocurrency shocks explain 18% of price-level forecast error variance at long horizons. Narrative analysis reveals sentiment and technology as primary shock drivers. Global competition requires the company's appropriate rules and policies. The company is trying to build strong, firm resilience to maintain sustainability. The research aims to analyze the influence of management configuration decisions on company resilience through the integration of resource configuration, operational flexibility, and collaboration in the supply chain. This study was conducted on 462 manufacturing companies in Indonesia that were experiencing changes in operational systems and global competitive pressures. Despite remarkable economic development in South Korea (Korea), there are only a few women leaders, and they face challenges in the gendered workplace where organizational constraints and traditional values coexist. In a reanalysis of narratives of Korean women leaders (KWLs), using an ideal-type analysis as a novel qualitative research method, we identified five types of KWLs' resistance to their token status in the workplace: (1) Opportunity-Driven, (2) Pathfinding, (3) Self-Reflective, (4) Persevering, and (5) Changing the Way to Resist. The five types broaden the meaning of KWLs' resistance and highlight different ways they resist their token status in the workplace. …

Hyflex To Online: A Cautionary Tale, Joseph K. Fitzgerald

This module was delivered to two undergraduate part-time cohorts. One of the cohorts had a significant requirement for flexibility, as many students could be called into work with little notice. Historically, this group had engaged with online-only classes. However, with the installation of Hyflex technology, it was considered that some limited face-to-face (F2F) engagement could be reintroduced to enrich the learning experience. The intention was that Hyflex could offer the best of both worlds: the flexibility of online access and the interpersonal benefits of F2F learning. The ambition was to support flexibility while reintroducing classroom presence where feasible.
